Yaku really should have expected something like this - (f/n) hadn't done anything too over the top in a few weeks, and he really shouldn't have been naive enough to think that maybe she was growing up, becoming a little more mature. Yaku loves (f/n) a lot, he really does, but she does a lot of things that Yaku really wishes she didn't.

They'd been together for about three years now, so Yaku was very, very used to (f/n)'s antics - especially when she was paired with Lev or Kuroo - and while he wished that she would take things more seriously, he appreciated her for who she was and what she loved to do.

So, when (f/n) walked into the door of Yaku's apartment with a cat in her arms, he really, really shouldn't have been surprised.

"What the hell is that?" he asked, his eyes comically wide.

"Morisuke, please just listen real fast, okay?" The male sighed but nodded for her to continue. "Okay, I see this cat everyday on my way over here, and today I watched it's owner kick it." Yaku seemed surprised at that, and he felt his softness coming out at the thought of the cat being in a bad home. "So, I took it. I can't have pets in my apartment, but I know your landlord is very kind and would let you keep this little cutie i-"

"(f/n)," Yaku started, fixing his girlfriend with a piercing gaze. "A cat is a lot of work, and I don't have money for food or litter or anything li-"

"I'll help, Morisuke! I promise I'll help, and I wouldn't be asking if I could keep it myself but you know my landlord won't let me. Please, we can buy the stuff together, and this can be like our own little thing." (f/n) ended with a warm smile on her face, and Yaku groaned because he knew it was a good thing to do, and he knew that he would love to have a cat with (f/n) - he could never say no to her when he knew she was right.

"Okay," Yaku said, and (f/n) was setting down the cat and bounding towards her boyfriend quickly, wrapping her arms around him tightly. "But if it pees in my house you're cleaning it up."

(f/n) smiled widely at him. "Deal!"

Later, after they calmed the cat down a bit and let it explore the apartment, they fed it some tuna and headed to a pet store for all their pet needs. (f/n) excitedly led Yaku around, going over the list she had made of things they'd need and she spent as much time as she needed making sure they were getting the best items for this cat.

"We need to get some flea medicine for it just in case they weren't watching out for it," she said, walking to the isle in which medicine was kept in. "Ooh, and then we can get it a really cute collar too." Yaku didn't say anything in reply, just smiled and went along as his girlfriend pulled the cart behind her.

They got cat food, toys, treats, cute bowls for food and water, a very cute collar, flea medicine, and a litter box and litter for it. Yaku was far more excited about this than he was letting on, and on their way back to Yaku's apartment he felt a little more warm than he originally had. He even let the thought cross his mind that this was his only little family he was starting with (f/n), and that made his cheeks as warm as he felt inside.

"What should we name it?" (f/n) asked once they'd gotten back to Yaku's home. They'd gotten the cat some actually food in a bowl now, and it was happily purring and eating it in the corner of the kitchen.

Yaku shrugged, "you can decide, since you saved it."

They were quiet while (f/n) thought, both taking care of the new cat themed items where they belong. After the litter box was set up and the cat's food and water bowls were filled and in their new place they put the collar on the cat and then let it get used to the apartment while they cuddled on the couch.

They were halfway through an episode of Criminal Minds when the cat jumped up on the couch, hesitantly sniffing the feet of both humans. Neither of them went to move at all because they didn't want to startle it, and they instead kept their eyes on the tv.

"We should name it Tigger," (f/n) said quietly, her fingers playing with Yaku's. "Kinda looks like a cat I had when I was younger that I had named Tigger - this can be the second one."

Yaku smiled and nodded. "That sounds like a good name to me."

The cat had finished smelling their feet and legs and was now moving up to (f/n)'s lap, and it had even started purring again. (f/n) pulled her left hand away from Yaku's and reached it out to the cat. It flinched a bit before sniffing her fingers and then pushing it's head against the fingers, the purring even louder now.

"I think it likes you," Yaku said fondly, watching his girlfriend pet their new cat with a soft smile. (f/n) looked back at Yaku and smiled wide.

"She'll like you too, since she'll be here with you everyday."

The cat proved (f/n)'s statement by moving over to Yaku's lap and lying down on it, it's claws kneading into the fabric of his pants. Yaku reached out a hand to pet the cat, and it responded immediately, rolling in the male's lap and purring even louder.

"See, it likes you already," she said in a soft voice, and then she leaned closer into his side. "Thank you for keeping her here."

Yaku leaned down and kissed her forehead lightly. "Your crazy ways keep me from getting too old too fast."

(f/n) laughed. "I'm glad to help."
