part two to the texting one I put of Oikawa the other day
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Iwa-Chan, I don't know if I can do this."
Oikawa was pacing back and forth in his bedroom as he had been for the last fifteen minutes, his nerves getting the best of him. He was about to meet (f/n) - meet (f/n).
"Then don't go."
"Iwa-Chan that's no help!" He flopped onto his bed beside his best friend, frown prominent. "I've never been nervous to meet anyone before Iwa-Chan, help me please."
Iwaizumi sighed and then focused on his friend. "Okay look Oikawa, first you gotta figure out why you're so nervous."
"(f/n)-Chan is smart and sweet and so pretty from the pictures I saw on her facebook. What if she hates me, Iwa-Chan, or what if she thinks I'm a big stupid flirt?"
"Well, you can be a big stupid flirt," Iwaizumi commented nonchalantly.
"Iwa-Chan please!"
"Shittykawa you just need to calm down! I've seen the texts you two sent back and forth. You were annoyingly you and she loved it, so you shouldn't be worried. She likes you. If she didn't like you she wouldn't have asked to finally meet you, so just calm down and get dressed, okay? I'll tell you if you look like a douche - because you will - and then we'll pick out another outfit."
Oikawa smiled wide at his best friend and wiped away some fake tears. "Iwa-Chan, you care so much!"
"I'm not sure if I'm ready for this," (f/n) mumbled to Suga, who had stepped into the bathroom (f/n) was in. She was staring at her reflection, fighting to get her hair and face and everything right so she could go meet Oikawa.
"It's okay if you're not, (f/n). Oikawa would understand if you couldn't go," Suga assured her, motherly smile on his face and his hand rubbing her back.
"I want to I'm just scared," (f/n) said quietly. "You guys said that Oikawa gets a lot of attention, and flirts a lot, and he's really pretty Suga."
Suga's smile didn't leave his face. "Oikawa is a total flirt (f/n), but he doesn't get with everybody like everyone says. He doesn't come across as it at first but he's respectful and won't do anything to hurt you - he's loyal as hell and once he signs up for something he isn't going to back down. He's super overzealous, and totally annoying sometimes, but he's not a bad guy. If he says he likes you he really must."
(f/n) smiled slightly and nodded at her best friend.
"Plus," the two in the bathroom turned to see Daichi, "Iwaizumi just sent me a snapchat and Oikawa is a nervous wreck right now."
That, as mean as it sounded, made (f/n) feel ten times better. "Okay, that's relaxing," (f/n) said, small smile still in place. "You guys help me decide what to wear?"
"Of course we will!" Suga said excitedly, throwing his arm over Daichi's shoulders. "That's what we're here for!"
*****
Half an hour later (f/n) was sitting in the cafe they'd agreed on, the first one to arrive. She was keeping herself busy, reading one of her textbooks because reading calmed her, took her mind off of things for a while. Her mind was taken away from reading when a hand pulled out the chair beside her, a body setting itself in it gracefully.
She looked up to meet brown eyes she'd only heard about, seen in pictures, and her nerves started acting up again. She couldn't speak, her mouth practically sealed shut.
He's a good guy, don't be nervous. Yeah he's super hot, but he's a total idiot too, Iwaizumi told you this, (f/n). (f/n) reminded herself, thinking back on everything she knew about the boy who was now seated beside her.
"(f/n)?" The girl nodded. "I noticed you didn't have a drink so I grabbed you this while I was ordering my own - it's your favorite, right?"
(f/n) looked down at the cup he was handing her and she grabbed it with another nod. "Thank you very much, Oikawa," she said before taking a sip of the drink.
Oikawa started a conversation easy after that - she'd asked about volleyball and he was spouting off all kinds of information (f/n) didn't understand instantly, but she listened to him anyways because there was a sparkle in his eye that (f/n) hadn't seen in anyone besides her astronomy teacher in a while and it was nice to see him so pumped about something.
He'd only realized he was ranting when (f/n) asked him to explain many aspects of what he'd just gone on about, and his hand met his neck nervously.
"Well, why don't you rant about astronomy for some time then? I know that you really like that!"
(f/n) was wringing her hands together then, her nerves spiking whenever it was her turn to speak. She began hesitantly at first - all things that Oikawa knew, things most people knew about space, and then she was going on and on about why Jupiter was the most interesting planet and the cool photos that had been taken of Pluto and why she thought Pluto still deserved to be a planet and everything she could think of.
She was as embarrassed as Oikawa had been, but his eyes were sparkling like they had been when he was talking about volleyball.
"I never thought anybody could be so enthralled talking about Pluto," he said to her with a giggle, hand covering his mouth.
(f/n) looked down at her hands, but Oikawa didn't miss the curve of her lip into a crooked smile or the hint of pink rushing to her cheeks. Oikawa was taken with how cute she looked, all flustered and smiling down at her hands.
"You're so cute," he said breathlessly. (f/n) looked at him as if asking what he had said, and Oikawa steady himself a bit before repeating himself. "I said you're really cute - like cuter than I thought you would be." (f/n) flushed again and Oikawa smiled even wider. "See, too cute, even when you're flustered!" he told her, reaching out to ruffle her hair.
It was a rather common gesture, but it caused the blush on (f/n)'s cheeks to darken more. "I don't think I can handle being called cute so many times."
Oikawa leaned onto the table, elbows on the wood and hands under his chin. "Fine fine, I'll stop for now. But you've gotta let me compliment you more later, I've held back quite a bit in the last few weeks."
(f/n) was still flustered but managed a nod and a quiet 'okay.'
"So, should we get out of here? Go for a walk maybe? It feels good outside today."
(f/n) agreed and they were walking down the sidewalk in no time, Oikawa leading them to a park just down the street. He stopped talking when (f/n) boldly took his hand in hers, cheeks bright red and face uncertain.
Oikawa assured her it was alright with a squeeze to her hand before he started talking animatedly again about something, a large smile on his face.
And if (f/n) didn't hear most of what he was saying because she was too busy focusing on the beauty that was smiling Oikawa - well, who could blame her?
