(f/n) wasn't sure exactly what fully compelled her to be the manager of the Nekoma boys volleyball team. She was shy, which wasn't the best when surrounded by all the rambunctious boys of the team, and far more interested in art than she was in any sport.
The decision between art and being the manager for the club was easy for her for only a couple of reasons, the number one being that she didn't want anyone to see her artwork - it was private, special to her.
It would also be easier for her to adapt to the people of the volleyball club because she knew a few members on the team. She was a third year now, and she had known Kai and Yaku and Kuroo since they all started high school together.
So, when Kai had mentioned they need a manager to her, she decided it sounded painless. It'd be easy for her because it didn't involve a lot of conversing with people and it gave her some time during watching their practices to draw.
The first time she drew Kuroo was an accident, honestly. They were in their first year, she'd been looking around the gym for inspiration, her eyes landed on him and she drew him. She was furious the first time, trying to get his hair and the awkward length of his arms right.
If you asked her, that would be the reason on why she kept drawing him - his hair was a challenge, his body structure helped her learn. It was good for an artist to have a challenge.
She extended to drawing the entire team once she decided she needed a break from Kuroo, and then to the teams they played against, and the teams they went to camps with. All these volleyball players in their most flattering moments, the plays they looked the best doing.
By the middle of her third year she'd filled up sketch book after sketch book with drawings of the different teams she'd met, and she was happy to add the Karasuno team to that, filling page after page with the amazing duo and their crazy haired libero and their gruff looking ace.
Her drawings almost always went back to Kuroo, though.

"Hey (f/n), why don't you take a break from cutting that watermelon, come watch your team wreck Karasuno?"
The girl barely had to look up to meet Kuroo's eyes. Their height difference wasn't large to begin with, and with him leaning down how he was they were even closer than usual. It made (f/n)'s face flush, and she stepped back immediately.
"Okay," she said to him, setting down the sharp knife. She waved to Fukurodani's managers, who had already finished cutting their own melons, and then followed Kuroo into the gym.
(f/n) had always been worried about carrying her sketchbooks around during training camps, but everyone seemed to realize that they were private and didn't make any moves to invade that privacy. People who knew her well enough, mostly the boys from the Nekmoa and Fukurodani teams, would ask to see sometimes, but would never press when she said no.
(f/n) sat beside Nekomata on the bench, admiring the way Nekoma played like one body working perfectly together, even with Lev's inability to cooridnate himself at some points.
The half russian boy made it an act to yell to the team manager every time he hit well or blocked one of Hinata's crazy spikes, overly proud of himself for things he'd been working on for months. (f/n) made sure to send him thumbs up when he did well, knowing that it was good to let him know when he's doing well - his ego was fragile, no matter how large.
