Kageyama Tobio || Awkward

Kageyama was requested by the_fandoms_monster literally in July. I didn't forget about you, I'm just a piece of shit xD I hope you enjoy this, it's a little weird, but it's gotta be when it's about Kageyama. :)

 Kageyama wasn't ever one to instigate the romantic, intimate times of he and (f/n)'s relationship. It just wasn't him, wasn't something he was good at - (f/n) would pull him into a kiss or a hug or grab his hand, and Kageyama had no problem with it, so he'd cling back to her, kiss her just as passionately, squeeze her hand back to show her it was fine. When he looked at (f/n) he saw her smiling, and he figured that what he was doing was enough - maybe one day he'd feel comfortable initiating something, but for now he didn't, but that's okay because it was enough.

It wasn't that he didn't like the touches and the kisses - it was the opposite really; he liked them a lot, and wanted to instigate them but he just didn't know how. (f/n) was, she always knew the perfect way to kiss him and hug him and hold his hand, and Kageyama didn't want to mess it up.

So, he asked for advice.

The old third years graduated a few months ago, so he didn't have his number one option of Sugawara to go to. He decided of the new third years he probably trusted Tanaka and Nishinoya the most, but Nishinoya's boyfriend now lived far away in Tokyo, and Tanaka never was the one to initiate anything with his boyfriend from what Kageyama saw, so he went to the third year he went to for all of his volleyball problems, hoping he could help with problems not related to volleyball too.

"Captain," he said awkwardly, back unbelievably straight and all of his muscles tensed. When he had Ennoshita's attention he dropped into a bow, and his voice was ten times louder than before. "PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO BECOME AS COMFORTABLE AS YOU WITH HOLDING HANDS AND HUGGING AND KISSING."

Ennoshita was taken back, cringing away from the bowing second year in front of him. "Ka-Kageyama," he stuttered out, his entire face turning red. They had the attention of the entire team on them, and when Kageyama heard laughing he was blushing too - why was he so damn good at making a fool of himself?

Ennoshita seemed at a loss for words, and when Kageyama glanced up at him it was to see him looking across the gym at Tanaka, silently asking his boyfriend to help him.

The bald ace skipped over excitedly, and then threw his arm around his boyfriend's shoulders and pulled him closer. "Stand up, Kageyama, you're going to give Chikara a heart attack if you keep acting so out of character like this," Tanaka said with a teasing smile.

When Kageyama stood up he saw that Ennoshita had physically calmed down, leaning into his boyfriend for support because he was embarrassed and now incredibly nervous because the team was still looking at them and Kageyama thought he was the person to go to for relationship advice when he and Tanaka were just barely figuring it out.

"Now, Kageyama - what made you think Chikara was the best person to ask for relationship advice?"

Kageyama couldn't help his voice from being extremely loud. "B-Because he is always the one grabbing your hand, and pulling you closer, and kissing your cheek, and I want to do that with (f/n) but it makes me feel too nervous."

Ennoshita smiled slightly, and proved Kageyama's point by moving Tanaka's arm off his shoulders to hold his hands. "Well, we mostly do it like that because Tanaka is surprisingly like you sometimes, and gets rather nervous when things are left up to him because he doesn't know how to do romantic things very well yet, and so he usually is about as loud about it as you are being, so I take over to make it a little better."

Kageyama groaned. "Then Tanaka, why are we like this? How do I become more comfortable with public affection, because I want to do this with (f/n)."

"You've just gotta give yourself time," Tanaka said, soft smile on his face. "I'm growing a little more comfortable with gentle, romantic gestures instead of crazy bold ones that just end up with me super embarrassed. You'll be comfortable enough to do that soon, and as long as (f/n) is a good enough girlfriend to understand that, you shouldn't be too worried about it."

Kageyama nodded, trying to calm his quick beating heart and trying to get rid of the blush on his face. Tanaka reached out and patted his head, his uncharacteristically small smile turning into a large, normal Tanaka smile. "Thank you, Senpai."

Tanaka cheered, ripping his shirt from his body and wiping it around over his head while cheering. Ennoshita smiled over at Kageyama, and the younger boy bowed before walking away, letting the conversation settle in his mind.

Kageyama awkwardly spoke to (f/n) about it after he had spoken to his senpai, and she had kissed his cheeks and told him it was okay that he wasn't sure what to do yet, that some people took a little longer to get used to romantic gestures, and that was okay.

He worked on it, though; spoke more romantically towards (f/n) and after a few months he wasn't nervous to reach out and grab (f/n)'s hand. He still couldn't hug (f/n) without squeezing her too tight or tripping over his own feet while trying to walk closer to her, but he promised he'd be able to someday, and (f/n) didn't doubt it.

About four months after his conversation with Tanaka and Ennoshita, he did something even better.

They were cuddling, sitting together on the couch in Kageyama's living room, bodies huddled together and a blanket over their laps. Kageyama was trying to pay attention to the movie they were watching, but he couldn't - he just kept thinking about kissing (f/n) and hugging her and holding her hand, and it was too damn distracting for him.

So, on a split second decision, Kageyama turned his head, kissed (f/n) on the cheek, and then turned away before (f/n) could even register what happened.

When she turned around to question what Kageyama did, she was met with him and his tomato red face, something that always managed to make (f/n) giggle. She buried her face into his neck, and pulled him into a hug. "You're the best."

Kageyama was silent for a moment before he managed to force himself to speak. "Y-Y-You too."
