(Another Charry short, not connected to the plotline of the series or the book)
Recently, I found out I was pregnant. I'm surprised that the constant running to the bathroom and feeling nauseous didn't give it away. But I wanted to tell Barry in a special way. I just needed to figure out the right plan.
After pondering how I was going to do it, I decided I would buy Barry's favorite outfit, but mini. That would give the impression of a little Barry.
Barry noticed I wasn't feeling well and he suspected it was a cold. Captain gave me some "sick" time off and when Barry was at work, I was working on the plan.
I went to multiple stores in our area and came back before Barry so I could play "sick". I had bought a mini pair of jeans, a mini gray trench coat, a mini sweater vest, and of course.......mini converse.
When I had everything, I decided it was time to tell him. While he was at work one day I laid it all out on the bed. I didn't pretend to be sick, so that would come as a surprise to him.
"Chloe.....I'm home!" Barry exclaimed, calling from the front door as he walked in. I sat on the bed next to my masterpiece and listened as the footsteps got closer and closer to our room.
"I'm awake," I called to him before he opened the door.
"Okay, I thought you were-" Barry said stopping suddenly. "What's this?" He asked.
"I don't know.....what is it?" I countered.
"It's my favorite outfit.........but mini.............like a-................mini me............wait........you're.........." Barry trailed off. I nodded. I could see tears escape his eyes and he ran over to me and engulfed me in a hug.
"This is for real? Thank you! This is the best day of my life! I'm gonna be a dad!" Barry said happily. The tears of happiness fell and I found myself crying with him. Barry looked at me and pecked my lips.
"Thank you," he said as he bent down to my stomach.
"Hey there little Allen.....this is you're dad. I love you so much and you have the best mommy in the world. And as a promise to you, I won't let you grow up like we did."
