I was making my way to CCPD with Barry, when I spotted someone. As soon as I saw him I could easily recognize him. I didn't say anything to him, but I was happy to see him. He was too involved with his music to see what was going on around him.
He had on a black band tee with jeans and converse. His hair had been tucked into a beanie and he had his ear buds in. He was walking at a slow pace, taking in the music that played in his ears.
I had known him in high school. He had been the troubled boy struggling with depression and I did everything I could to help him. I talked with him and he became better each time. I struggled with it myself so I could relate. We both helped each other out. And with that, a friendship blossomed.
We became good friends over that time and I enjoyed his company. We had a lot in common and he became a close friend of mine.
But summer came and we lost connection. I talked to him once early on, but that was all. I tried texting again, but no reply. I was just glad to see him alive and well.
"Who was that?" Barry asked me. "Do you know him?"
"Yeah........I do. He's just somebody I used to know."
