"I know somethings not right. C'mon, just tell me," Barry said.
"Well, something is going on, but nothing's wrong. I'm perfectly fine. With one minor thing....."
"And..." Barry proceeded. I held up the test so he could see if for himself:
"I'm pregnant." Barry stood for a second before a wide grin appeared on his face and his eyes looked like they were going to pop out of his head. He picked me up and spun me in a circle.
"I can't believe it. I'm going to be a dad! This is everything I've ever wanted. Thank you!" He said with tears forming.
"I'm glad you're happy. I didn't know how you'd take it. I didn't know if you'd be frustrated because it is a bad time, but you clearly aren't."
"I'm not mad at all. If anything, I'm overjoyed. You know how much I've wanted this. And the timing couldn't be more perfect. I'm just so happy, and I have many questions to ask. We'll have to ask Caitlin tomorrow. I just can't believe this...I've always dreamed of this day happening, and there is no one else that I'd rather have a future with."
"Maybe if Patty knows, she'll back off... And thanks for the affection Bar."
"Let's not turn this into something it doesn't have to be. Joe and the rest of the team will be more then happy to hear this."
"Yes, but you have to think about it. All the responsibility that comes with it and the pregnancy process. I won't be able to go out and help out at a certain point because it will be too dangerous. And this is just another person that can be put in harms way. I don't want to do anything that will put the baby in danger."
"We can go to Caitlin tomorrow and ask questions. For now, we have to get you back to bed," Barry said before walking me upstairs. He tucked me in and gave me a kiss before he crawled into bed himself.
The next morning, we were so excited to spread the news, that we got up before the alarm even went off.
"Good morning Chlo, and my little baby," Barry said as I walked into the kitchen. He was fully dressed and breakfast was made on the table. He made eggs, bacon, and toast for breakfast, so I sat down to eat that with him. When I was done, I went upstairs and put on my favorite black crop top shirt with ripped jeans and converse. I needed to savor these clothes now before they won't fit me soon.
When I arrived downstairs, Barry was surprised with the outfit choice:
"Wow, where are you going hot stuff?" He asked.
"Work. I have to enjoy these clothes soon before I can't wear them anymore. I don't have to dress like I'm going to a school dance every day for work."
"That's understandable. Talk about those hormones. Are you almost ready to go?" He asked me after gulping down his orange juice.
"Yeah," I said before picking up my house keys and locking the door. Barry came up from the table and to the door.
"See you at CCPD," he said before speeding away. I took one look at the house before shutting the door and speeding away.
When we arrived, Joe was at his desk and Patty was sitting on it.
"Hey Guys," I said. "We were wondering if we could talk to Joe for a second."
"Yeah sure," Joe said. At just the right time, Iris walked into the precinct.
"Hey Iris, we were just about to talk to Joe, we were also going to talk to you as well but since you're here......you can join us."
"I'd love to," Iris said before we led them upstairs. We closed the lab doors, and stood up against our desks.
"C'mon guys, what is it? We know something is going on, and you wouldn't bring us up here if you didn't have something to say," Iris said.
Barry and I looked at eachother. We were so happy to share this with them, but we couldn't decide who should speak first. I took initiative and spoke up:
"Barry and I are expecting!" I said. Iris' reaction was excitement and she cupped her mouth with her hands. Joe's reaction was happy tears and joy.
"I can't believe this Bar," Iris said to Barry. "I'm glad you found someone to be with. You deserve this. I'm really happy for you," Iris said waking over to us and giving us each a hug. Now it was Joe's turn. Iris walked over to him and wiped the tears off of his cheeks.
"I'm sorry you have to see me like this, but I'm just so happy. So much bad stuff has happened to all of us, and I'm glad that something good has finally come. I feel so happy for you guys and you deserve it. I'm gonna be a grandpa!" Joe said with more tears coming.
"Yes you are," I said before we walked over to Joe and gave him a group hug.
