Past
I looked across the playground and couldn't spot my best friends anywhere. We were playing hide and seek and they were nowhere in sight.
"FOUND YOU!" I yelled to Barry and Iris when I saw them in the slide.
"Aw Man! I thought we had you this time!" Barry whined.
"Well you thought wrong," I said strutting over to the swings. Our parents were conversing in the corner, laughing and giggling at everything we did or said. Barry and Iris eventually followed.
"What do you think the future's gonna be like?" Barry asked.
"I don't know. But I hope it's a good one," I said making swirls in the woodchips with my feet.
"IRIS!" Joe called.
"Gotta go, talk to you later," Iris said before leaving. It was just Barry and I alone. I got this feeling in my stomach but decided to ignore it.
"Where can you see yourself in the future Bar?" I asked him.
"I can see myself living a happy life with a happy family. I'll have a good job and my life will be perfect. What about you?"
"I see practically the same. Happy family, happy house, good job."
"Well I'm glad we agree."
"Me as well."
Present
Barry and I were sitting on those same swings at our old school. We couldn't help but laugh at all the fun times we had together.
"Remember when I asked you about the future? Looking back on it, what do you think about it now?"
"I can't remember my exact response, but I know it was somewhere along the lines of that my future would be perfect and happy."
"And is that how you see it?" Barry asked me.
"Well I totally didn't picture getting super speed and becoming a superhero, but other than that it is how I thought it would be. I have a happy life with you, and a perfect job. All those situations with metas, Zoom, and our parents weren't happy but I have learned to keep them aside. But even through all that confusion and hard times, I know that my life is a good one."
