I wheeled my suitcase along, excited for the future ahead. I had just moved from Starling and I knew a little about Central City because my friends visited here alot.
I turned the key to my recently bought apartment and plopped down onto the couch up on entering. Everything had already been transferred from my previous home and everything was how I wanted it. I had planned this move very thoroughly and I had the movers do everything. I turned on the tv, hoping to find something interesting but I got something more:
"We're standing here with Particle Accelerator Creator: Dr Harrison Wells. Tell us, how will this benefit the city?" The reporter asked.
"It will bring clean energy to our city. I can't give away too much, but you won't be disappointed."
"Yes, and for most of us you can see the accelerator go online live. But If you're one of the lucky few you can go to the exclusive conference before it goes online. Back go you in the studio."
I have to get tickets, I thought. But how? My thoughts were interrupted with a phone call. I picked it up and saw my new bosses name. Without answering, I ran out the door with my bag and drove off to work.
When I arrived, I saw my boss standing in front of his office with his arms crossed. Without saying a word, he pointed to the staircase. I ran over to it, sped upstairs, and found myself in front of a big door. I knocked on it and after a few seconds it opened. A tall, skinny man opened the door. He looked about my age and he had short brown hair. His best features were his bright white smile and his gorgeously colored eyes.
     "Hello.....I'm Chloe."
"Yes, the new assistant Captain was talking about. Barry Allen," he said holding out his hand. We held the shake for a couple seconds and after we broke it, Barry's hand went to the back of his neck.
"Your desk is over there so make yourself comfortable," he said pointing over to a desk across from what up assumed was his. I walked over and placed my bag onto the chair. I got out my laptop and was ready to work. I started typing when there was a knock at the door.
"Iris!" Barry exclaimed getting up. By that reaction, I assumed they were a thing. Iris returned the hug and I knew for sure they had something.
     "Who's this?" Iris asked me.
"My new assistant.....partner.....a mix of both. Captain hired her because I've been "slacking" Barry said in quotes.
"Not to mention you're always late," Iris added. "Sorry to tell you that I couldn't go to your geek show tonight. Eddie had this big surprise he was telling me about, so I'm gonna have to skip. Sorry." After hearing this, my head shot up. I could go with him......or would that be to weird.....I mean, we are business partners. It wouldn't be a date or anything.....
"It's okay," Barry said shaking it off.
"Ill go with you," I said standing up. "I actually wanted to go, but didn't have tickets. Think of it as a friendly business occasion...." I said awkwardly. "It can help us get to know each other better.....but in a friendly way," I said nervously. I'm worse then Barry.
"Perfect! We can finish off work and go straight from here."
"Great!" I said walking back over to my desk. I sat down and watched as Barry said goodbye to Iris. When she was out the door Barry spoke:
"So Chloe, what do you like to do? Tell me about yourself."
"Well, Obviously I'm a forensic scientist and I love science. I'm a nerd, I like superheroes, I like punk music, and I just moved here. I came from Starling."
"Interesting. I've only been there once, but for a business trip. Like you, I love science and I'm a super nerd."
     "Nice. What about family?"
"Actually.....my mom is dead and my dad is wrongfully convicted in Iron Heights for her murder."
"Sorry to hear that, mine are too. It happened when I lived here. I moved away after it happened to try to forget about it. They were in the center of 3 flashes of light and-"
"Mine too...coincidently of course." At that moment, Barry's phone went off and he stood up from his desk.
"Conference is soon. We should probably head over," he said before we grabbed our coats and left.
When we arrived, there were so many people and I didn't know where to go. In the crowd of all the people, I managed to lose Barry. I stood alone for a second before panicking. I didn't know where I was and didn't know anyone. I was getting so nervous that I was hyperventilating and getting scared. That was until I felt a hand grab mine.
"Chloe....I'm glad I found you.....we have to.....what's wrong?" Barry asked me. Usually I'm not much of a telling your feelings person, but I was so comfortable with Barry that I didn't even care. It was interesting considering that I barely knew him. I explained to him how I have anxiety and how I'm not good with large groups of people. With a nod, he pulled me into a hug. I melted into it and I felt him do it as well. We broke the hug and shared a quick glance before he took my hand and lead me to our spot. His hand felt warm in mine and they seemed to fit perfectly together. Ignoring that, I focused on the row of scientists in front of me.
"I'd like to introduce Dr Snow, Dr Ramon, and Dr Ronnie Raymond. Without them, this wouldn't have been possible. Tonight.....the future begins. This machine will be different from any scientific creation ever made. And it will change things in more ways than one. And now for questions," he said pointing to the first news reporter who shot their hand up. After hearing the first question and after listening to many more, it was over and Barry and I headed off back to the lab.
     "That was awesome!" Barry exclaimed.
"Yes it was! Too bad it's over."
"Yeah, you can stay and watch it here if you want," Barry asked nervously.
"Okay," I said to him, giving a shy smile. I don't know what it was about him, but I knew that we were going to make a good team here. I walked over to the t.v. to watch the accelerator with Barry. Our eyes were glued to the t.v. as Harrison flipped the switch. We could see the pride in his eyes turn to fear before the screen went black. We could see out the window, a wave of yellow energy come from S.T.A.R. Labs and at the same time it began to storm outside. Barry and I ran to the overhead windows to close them, but they wouldn't move. We were flung from our positions by sudden strikes of lightning coming through the window and we had landed on his chemical rack. All I saw was a blur before my vision went black.
