"Where does this go?" Barry asked as he placed a box at the top of the basement stairs. I turned around in the kitchen and saw he brought up the box of Christmas decorations.
"You can put that box in the living room, thanks, Bar," I said as he carried the box into the living room and walked downstairs to get the others.
Once all the boxes were up, Barry and I began decorating the house. I strung up the lights around the railing and he placed the window decals and little figurines around the house as Christmas music filled our ears. The twins laughed and giggled as Barry and I sang along to the lyrics.
When the little decorations were taken care of, we then began to decorate the tree. We began by taking the artificial tree out of the box and "fluffing" out the branches.
"Where are the lights?" I asked, looking around the room. A chuckle escaped my lips when I saw Destiny and Sampson wrapped up in the strands of lights. Barry laughed and joined my side, taking in the sight of our two children.
"I guess they just wanted to help," Barry said with a smile before kissing my cheek. Barry helped get the lights off the twins before we laced the tree in the bright twinkling bulbs.
"And here are the ornaments," Barry said as he grabbed the box and placed it in front of the tree. We took each ornament out one by one. We placed all the ornaments on the tree, and even allowed the twins to place a few.
When we were done with all the regular ornaments, we moved on to our "special" ones. These ornaments included ones we had a Joe's house, as well as others we've gotten over the years. After reminiscing about old childhood memories, Barry disappeared into another room. He came back a minute later with a box. He handed it to me, and I took it from his hands.
"For you, my love...Early Christmas gift," he said before sitting down. He took Sampson from my lap, and held him as I opened Barry's gift. I opened the little box and found an ornament inside.
     "It's an ornament...Barry, it's--"
"Moments that our lives changed forever..." Barry continued. And that was what the ornament said. On top, the ornament said: "Moments our lives changed forever." Underneath the writing were a few pictures. One was from the night we met, another from our wedding, another of the twins during a sonogram, and another photo was from the night the twins were born. A tear escaped my eyes as I looked down at the ornament and thought of these special moments of our relationship.
"Thank you, Bar," I said before giving him a small hug and a kiss. I placed the special ornament on the tree and we continued decorating.
After we finished decorating, Barry and I sat on the couch with the twins on our lap. We sat by the warmth of the fire as we admired our decorated house.
