Today was a day I was dreading the most: Valentine's day. I had been one of those people that didn't value the day as a holiday because I didn't have anyone to share it with. Considering that fact, I planned to have a night in all to myself. I cuddled up on the couch, covered myself in blankets, ordered pizza, and watched tv surrounded by a bunch of food.
In the middle of my Law and Order SVU marathon, I kicked my blankets off me and headed towards the door when I heard a knock. I then grabbed the 10 dollar bill sitting on the table by the door, and opened the door to something I wasn't expecting.
"5.73, just like you—" I said before I stopped myself. I was surprised to see that there was no pizza boy at my door, but it was my coworker: Barry Allen. We worked together as partners at CCPD. He held a pizza box in one hand, and a plastic bag full to the brim in the other.
"Did somebody order a pizza?" Barry asked, holding up the box with a small smile. My eyebrows furrowed.
"Yes, I did, but what are you doing here?" I asked with a chuckle. "And what did you do with my delivery boy?"
"I thought you could use some company, partner," Barry said, holding up his other hand with the plastic bag. "And I gave him the rest of the night off." A smile crept onto my face as I shook my head, and I then let him inside my home. He set the bag and pizza box on my coffee table and turned to me shyly. I held out the bill for him to take, but he shook his head. "I'm treating you to a propper Valentine's day," he said, grabbing a chocolate box and flowers out of the bag. I blushed and smiled as I took the gifts from his hands.
"I thought you were celebrating Valentine's day with Joe...And Iris..." I said, looking down at the gifts and then at the floor.
"I had room in my heart for only one Valentine this year," said Barry. I looked up at him slowly and he rubbed his neck. I smiled happily and my heart felt warm. He smiled back at me, and I then saw that he genuinely cared. I smiled even wider, and giggled at the boy standing in my living room.
"Come here my funny Valentine," I said, opening my arms for a hug. After our hug, we then vegged on the couch all night, eating food and using our CSI expertise to solve the Law and Order cases.
