Today, I was heading out to the nearest mall closest to my home. I was going Christmas shopping with my girls: Felicity, Sara, Kara, Iris, Cecile, and Caitlin. We started out easy, us all picking out gifts for the twins.
"What do they like to play with?" Kara asked as we walked up and down the toy aisle.
"Sampson's the one that likes to play. He likes Legos, cars, typical boy stuff. Destiny just likes to read and write."
"She sounds just like her parents," Sara joked, earning a chuckle from everyone in the group.
"She likes to steal Barry and I's textbooks in the middle of the night and read them. She stole our Quantum Physics textbook last night. I noticed it missing this morning."
"So what should we get her, then?" Caitlin asked, placing a toy for Sampson in the cart and continuing to look for gifts.
"Anything you think Barry and I would like. A textbook, chemistry set, math book...Anything you'd consider getting Barry and I."
"So I can assume this is out of the question then," Felicity said, walking to the next aisle and pulling out a lingerie set. I turned to her and my face flushed with embarrassment. The other girls laughed.
"Absolutely not! And I would never think of getting something like that, even if Barry would want me to." I turned to look for more gifts when Felicity responded.
"Wouldn't you want to look sexy when you're trying for baby number three? Or four? Or five? Or even six? You never know..." Felicity said, wiggling her eyebrows. The girls giggled and I motioned for Felicity to put the clothing down.
"Baby number...whatever...won't be coming for a while, even if that's what we decide. My body needs a break from those twins. They were hard enough." I continued shopping for other family members and found the gifts I was looking for. Iris stopped me as I was looking for a gift for Cisco.
"Well Barry has always said he wanted a big family. And we know he can't keep his hands off you. Who knows, maybe baby number three is just around the corner," Iris said, raising her eyebrows. All the girls "ooed" and nudged Iris my shoulder. I thought about it for a split second before remembering what I came here for.
"Let's get back to shopping," I said, trying to stop what was continuing to be an awkward conversation.
After shopping, I found everything I needed, thanks to help from my girlfriends. I got Joe a cute little mug that said: "World's best dad." For Cisco, I got him a T-Shirt set of all his favorite shows. But Barry was the hardest to shop for. I still couldn't settle on a gift for him. I was also going to continue shopping for the other girls when I could go on my own. For Destiny, I ended up settling on an Albert Einstein biography, as well as a book of all the works from all "Nobel Peace Prize" winners.
"Barry, I'm home," I said after placing my keys in the front door and entering through. After getting no response from Barry, I hid the gifts quickly and sped into the kitchen, where Barry later greeted me. He had just gotten in the shower, and walked in wearing just a pair of sweatpants.
"How's my love doing today?" He asked, kissing my cheek and pulling me in close. "How were the girls? Did you find all the Christmas gifts you were looking for?" He asked, loosening his grip on me as I entered the living room and plopped down on the couch.
"It was good. I got everything I needed, and more. I even found gifts for the twins...Speaking of, where are they?" I asked, looking around.
"I put them to bed early. Felicity stopped by and they were out like a light after she left." Feeling like this wasn't a coincidence, I continued to listen as Barry sat up from his position. He then stood up and got something from under the tree.
"What is that?" I asked as Barry brought the box over to me and placed it on my lap.
"I don't know, Felicity brought it over before she took the train back," Barry said as I peeled back the bow and wrapping. Having suspicious feelings about it, I opened the box slowly. Inside the box was the same lingerie set that Felicity pointed out to me in the store. My face went bright red as I looked down at the black piece of clothing. I then took the card from the box and read it:
"Baby number three...Go get 'em..." I quickly closed the card and placed it inside the box. I then closed up the box and hid it.
"What was that about?" Barry asked as I returned back to the couch.
"Nothing," I replied, fiddling with my hands in my lap, thinking about the day's events and today's conversation.
