Today was a special day: Barry's birthday. Each year I try to do something different for him that I know he'd enjoy. One of his favorite things that I do is bake, so I was making him a special cake.
Joe told me Barry would be working today while I had the day off, so I didn't have any distractions.
While I was baking, I danced and sang along in the kitchen to the latest 5 Seconds of Summer album: "Youngblood." I got so wrapped up in the music that I didn't hear the door open.
"Watch it all fall down, Babylon..." I sang as I placed a cake tray into the oven and closed the door. When I turned back to face the counter, Barry has been leaning on the hallway entrance, slowly clapping. He wore a wide grin, and I was hit with the realisation that he could see what I was doing.
"What's going on in here?" Barry asked, taking a few steps foreword towards the kitchen. I did my best to hide and clean up quickly as he watched over me. I could tell he knew what I was up to.
"Just...chilling," I replied with a small smile, trying to hide whatever was left of the surprise. It didn't help that there were two other tiers of the cake cooling off on the countertop.
"Chilling with your pals: flour, eggs, and butter?" Barry asked, taking another step into the kitchen and looking at the ingredients scattered about. Before I could say anything else, Barry sped to the cake pan in front of me that was filled with the last tier of batter. He licked his pointer finger before placing it slowly into the batter. He then brought his finger to his lips and licked it off his finger seductively. Barry closed his eyes and groaned. "Not just any chocolate..." He replied, walking up to me and pulling me closer to him by the waist. Our bodies collided together, and Barry was now looking down at me hungrily.
"Now that you licked the spoon and ruined the surprise!" I said, slapping his chest. Barry placed his hand on top of mine that was resting on his chest and bent down to my ear.
"It was either you or that spoon, honey, and we all know how much I love your cake."
