"Do you think I can sing?"

"What?" George looked up from reading the news (oh boy).

"Do you think I can sing?" Ringo repeated. "I mean, I don't really get any songs, so I thought maybe I'm not good."

"Oh, Ritchie." He gathered him up in his arms. "I love your singing, it's amazing. You have a limited vocal range, true, but I love it. Tell you what, maybe I could write songs for you to sing."

"You'd do that for me?" he squeaked. "You're sure?"

"Of course I'm sure. Or," he began, "you can write your own."

"Remember this one?" Ringo took a deep breath. "Don't pass me by, don't make me cry, don't make me blue..." He trailed off. "I'm not sure if that's quite what you had in mind."

"I do remember, and it's beautiful!" George scooped him up, kissing his cheek. "I'll fight like hell to get that song recorded, just you wait!"
