"Hello again, John." Paul's face lit up. "I'm joining The Quarrymen!"

"Fantastic!" John's heart raced. Not queer not queer not queer not queer not queer

"Can I come to your house?" he asked shyly. "I can help you tune your guitar again."

"Oh, of course! Let me tell Mimi first." He went to the club's phone, but just stood there for a while. "Not queer." He finally called, and after getting the okay, walked back out. "Yeah, you can come."

"Really?! Thank you!" Paul walked next to him all the way there, a comfortable silence between the two. "You look like Elvis."

"Do I, now?" John swiveled his hips, causing him to laugh.

"Perfect! Will you sing to me?" he asked. John nodded once.

Well, since my baby left me
Well, I found a new place to dwell
Well, it's down at the end of Lonely Street
At Heartbreak Hotel

Where I'll be, where I get so lonely, baby
Well, I'm so lonely
I get so lonely, I could die

Although it's always crowded
You still can find some room
For broken-hearted lovers
To cry there in the gloom

And be so, where they'll be so lonely, baby
Well, they're so lonely
They'll be so lonely, they could die

He trailed off, biting his lip.

"I love it!" Paul hugged him, grinning widely. "So good!"

"Aw, thanks." John's eyes widened.

I'm queer.
