Chapter Fifty Six w/ note :

Kyla's P.O.V

"Hey."

My voice was like a whisper, and it seemed like I was saying this to the floor instead of my boyfriend. I took a small glance up to see if Niall didn't walk past me before moving my stare back to the floor. I was surprised Niall was standing only a couple steps away.

"What's wrong? You seem upset."

"I am upset," I looked up to meet Niall's eyes. He looked like he was about to say something, but stopped himself from opening his mouth. "I called my mother this morning for advice about this, and I promised her I would talk to you."

"Advice?" Niall asked. "Advice for what?"

"Don't pretend to be oblivious, Niall."

"I'm sorry."

"Is that all?" I crossed my arms.

"Let me make it up to you."

"How?" I asked looking away from his eyes. I couldn't look at him while I spoke, or else tears would start to fall from my eyes. "I finally got the confidence to talk about our future to you, and you go ahead and let it slip that you bought a ring to propose to me with."

"Kyla, let me-"

"I don't want to talk about this here," I looked over at my best friend. I watched her in the arms of her husband and couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy spread through my body. "I didn't expect to find you in that elevator with Aria. I'm sorry for bringing up that conversation and having you assume I found the engagement ring when I didn't." I finally got the courage again to look at Niall. "I just want to go home."

I turned around, my arms uncrossing, and made my way to the exit of the apartment complex. I walked out into the streets of London. I looked both ways before turning right.

I wasn't even half way down the sidewalk or far away from the place where Harry and Aria lived when I heard footsteps. Before I knew it, Niall was walking beside me at the same pace. I tried to walk faster, away from him, but he matched the pace perfectly.

"Why are you following me?" I asked him. I waited for his answer while I kept walking, his foot stepping to the cement the same time mine did.

"Because I love you."

"I'm being serious."

"I'm being serious, too."

I didn't reply. I continued walking down the side walk, keeping my eyes looking forward. My arms were swinging at my sides as I tried my best not to look over at Niall.

"I have my car, you know," Niall spoke up after a few seconds of silence between us. "Going back to get it would allow us to get back to our flat quicker. Besides, we're going in the wrong direction." I turned my head to look at him. He stopped walking and pointed behind us. "Our flat is that way."

"Sorry. I'm not an expert on where things are in London," I sighed as I turned around and began walking back towards Harry and Aria's apartment complex. Niall walked beside me. Again, he walked at the same pace I was, our feet touching the cement at the same time. "Can you stop that?"

"Stop what?" Niall asked in an innocent tone.

"Matching my pace."

"I'm not matching your pace."

"You're such a liar," I muttered.

"I'm not a liar."

"If you're not a liar, then what are you?"
