So let's do a fic about Kaito and Kokichi fighting over Y/N because I can't think of anything. Not requested, but feel free to request! Soulmate AU where everyone is born with a watch on their wrist and the seconds tick down to when you'll be confessed to by your soulmate / when you'll confess to your soulmate.
Fic title: Ticking Time BombKirumi's execution was enough to kick the idea that this 'killing game' was a prank out of your head. You didn't meet up with anyone and you only participated in activities which were done in groups. All seemed well until the magic show, which was where you truly believed that you weren't safe anywhere. The only thing that kept you going was that clock - it only had a few hours left.
"Hey, Y/N, can you pass me the—"
"Oh my God!" I held the knife that I was holding in a defensive stance.
"—salt?"
Everyone was staring at you. Where were you again? Oh, right, breakfast... minus Kirumi's cooking.
"Oh, s-sorry." You apologised to Kaito, who'd assumed that he scared you by asking for salt, before passing him the condiment. (is salt a condiment?)
"You're so mean, Kaito-kun!" Oma yelled, tears in his eyes.
Still trembling slightly, you rolled your eyes at Kokichi's comment.
"Shut up." Kaito didn't yell the retort, just mumbled it. Wow, you weren't the only one taking the killing game hard.
You kept eating, though you didn't have the appetite. Suddenly, you felt nauseous. This caused you to internally panic, and excuse yourself to your room.
"Kekekeke! So the poison finally worked, did it?"
"P-Poison?!" For the first time since you'd met him, Kokichi looked scared. "Korekiyo, you heartless bastard!"
You nearly passed out from the thought. You were going to die here, weren't you?
Kaito was the first to speak up. He marched over to Korekiyo with clenched fists and started yelling. "You poisoned the food?!"
"Not everyone's food. Just Y/N-san's."
You were on the verge of vomiting, nearly flying to the girls' bathroom. As you assumed, you barfed into the nearest toilet and nearly fell over when going to make your way back to the group. Your heart beat in your throat, and you started to black out.You woke up in your dorm, alone. You coughed up a bit of blood. Were you sick still?
"Y/N-san! Hey!" Kokichi stated loudly, popping up from nowhere. You leapt backwards, nearly tearing up, before realising who it was and laughing.
"Oma-kun! Y-You scared me!"
He sat on your bed. "I brought you in here after Kirumi found you in the bathroom. You worried me there for a second." He was smiling, but shaking like a leaf. "The poison wasn't lethal, don't worry. I won't let that happen again!"
The Ultimate Supreme Leader shuffled closer, leaning his head on your shoulder. "I'm glad you're okay."
You smiled slightly. "Th-Thanks." Lifting the water from your bedside table, you drank. Wait, when did you put that water there?
Three knocks on the door woke me up from my tired daze. Kaito smiled at me, his eyes landing on Kokichi. He glowered for a second, before sitting next to my bed. "Hey N/N. Feeling okay?"
I almost responded, before coughing up blood.
He frowned for a second. "According to the bottle, it should wear off in a few hours."
You checked your watch. Time remaining until you found your soulmate: 3 hours, 37 minutes. You hid your wrist out of embarrassment. With your luck, your soulmate would be someone like Korekiyo, or Monokuma.
YOU DIDN'T WANT TO SPEND THE REST OF YOUR LIFE WITH AN ANIMATRONIC BUILD-A-BEAR!
Taking a deep sigh, you curled up a little. "Thanks for being there for me, guys." You smiled slightly. "You don't have to stay, if you don't want."
The two looked at eachother, and said in unison, "Yeah, you don't have to stay."
Eventually you found yourself on the brink of a deep sleep.
Little did you know Korekiyo knew you'd return to your room and drink that water. Little did you know how every medical kit in the school had sleeping pills in them.
Little did you know that your door was open during breakfast. You didn't know where you'd woken up, but all that you knew was that it was dark, stuffy, and small. You shifted, and you heard a slight gasp from outside.
Panic.
"Hey!" You started banging on the walls of the box. "What the Hell? Let me out!"
"Kekeke..."
You screamed, until Korekiyo silenced you with a threat to tear out your nerves. You didn't dare upset him - you could still potentially escape.
You were struggling to breathe, grabbing your chest. You could barely make out the markings 'zero hours and two minutes' on your wrist. It was going to be Korekiyo, wasn't it? He would confess, you'd decline, and he'd kill you in a fit of anger.
Two muffled voices sounded from outside. You heard thumping before the sounds of retreating footsteps, and found the lid of the box being lifted. A hand reached it's way in. Still slightly drowsy and unstable on your feet, you gladly took the hand to clamber out.
The hand belonged to Kaito, who was holding back an eager Kokichi from hugging you to death. "I bet you're glad that there's a hero around like me to keep you saf—"
You hugged Kaito and smiled. "Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!"
Taken slightly aback, he pulled apart. "Thanks, ha ha."
Kokichi frowned before jumping onto me. "Hey, what gives? I helped to!"
You hugged with the biggest smile on your face.
Under one minute remaining.
"Thanks guys. I love you both so much right now, oh my God!"Beep beep. Beep beep.
The block on your wrist was beeping.Kaito's Ending
Kaito's wrist was beeping in sync. Kokichi, fighting back tears, hugged you again. "I hope you're happy together." He aid through a smile. "But who knows, Kaito? I am a liar after all. What if Kaito went missing one day? Who knows?"
With that, Kokichi slithered away.
"Don't worry about him." I smiled at my soulmate.
He chuckled slightly. "Now we have to make it out of here alive."Kokichi's Ending
To be honest, Kokichi didn't even hear his wrist beep. He just knew you both had to be soulmates. "Yippee! I've been waiting for this!" He hugged you, nearly crushing your ribcage, and you hugged back.
"Hiya soulmate!" You smiled.
When you pulled apart, you saw Kaito holding out his hand to Kokichi. "As much as you don't deserve them, you're lucky."
Kokichi, surprisingly, shook his hand and smiled. "Why thank you, my dear dumbass!"
When he turned to you, he gave you a thumbs up. "Don't use this soulmate thing as an excuse not to talk to me, 'kay? You better keep training with me."
He walked off. You didn't see the tears.Poly Ending
Three clocks beeping filled the empty corridor.
You checked your wrist. 'Soulmates found!' It read.
Wait.
Soulmates?!
Without even thinking you grabbed the two into a hug. "Poly it is, then!"Word count - 1211.
