Requested by @JustRandomGrill. Hope you like it, I don't write much for Ryoma lol
Fic title: Beanie Baby.
C/N = Cat's Name.
S/C/N = Second Cat's Name.Third Person POV
Y/N's birthday was rapidly approaching, and Ryoma was freaking out.
No, he hadn't forgotten about it. He'd marked it in the calendar six months prior. He just hadn't known what to get her.
Flowers? No, very very very cliche. Besides, if she was allergic he'd be done for.
A nice night out? No, they were both socially-awkward hermit crabs.
Movie night? They had those a lot. It had to be special.
...Cats?
He thought on this for a moment. They had two cats, a tabby and a calico who were both girls, and certainly took care of them well. They could easily afford another; both of them being Ultimates really paid the bills well.
So, a kitten?
It could work, it'd have to, only he couldn't think of a way to hide it from her for long enough.
Then, the idea struck him like a bullet.Y/N's POV
I woke up on the morning of my birthday to find Ryoma was out. He'd left a note on the kitchen table, saying he was going out buying stuff for our cats. It was a bright morning with only a few clouds in the sky. Ryoma had left me pancakes, though, which I made short work of as I stared out the window.
I decided to go and play a game or something, since I didn't have much else to do. I had no real plans for the day, mostly because going outside was overrated and sometimes it's nice just to sit inside with the curtains open playing f/g (favourite game) all day.
One of our cats, c/n, curled up at my feet. I paused my game to pet her, listening to her purr.
Then, I heard the door open from the hallway. C/n sprinted, along with s/c/n, using my legs as a springboard as Ryoma walked through the door, tugging at his beanie with his arms full of shopping bags. He was laughing slightly, telling our cats to let him put his things down before he could play.
He looked nervous, for some reason.
"Ryoma? Is everything okay?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
He chuckled, still clearly nervous. "Yeah, yeah, I'm just fine."
"Sorry, you're just acting a bit... fishy? Are you sure you're okay?"
"Just fine. I'm going upstairs real quick."
I didn't stop him as he put some cat food away, more than usual, and rushed upstairs. He shut his door behind him.
I followed him and knocked on our bedroom door. "Hey, come downstairs when you're done doing whatever you're doing. We can plan smash or something, I'll be fun."
"O-Okay."Ryoma came downstairs about ten minutes later. His hat was moving.
"R-Ryoma?" I asked. "Is there, um, something under your hat?"
Ryoma coyly took his beanie off.
There was an adorable cat under the beanie.
I squealed with delight and rushed over to him, hugging him and taking the cat from his head. "Oh my God, it's so precious!"
"I just got her today."
"I love her, Ryoma, and I love you too." I hugged him again, pecking him on the cheek. "What should we call her?"
"Your call."
"Amour. Her name is Amour."
Y/N froze. "Oh my God."
Ryoma, now concerned, asked, "What? What's wrong?"
She squished their faces side-by-side. She stared at him with upmost seriousness. "You just got me a real life beanie baby."Word count - 613.
I'm sorry this was so short!
