Chapter 26 Say goodbye to my heart
“Will you marry me?” Alex asked.
I smiled at him and walked away.
“Wait! Aren’t you going to answer?” He yelled back.
“Are you serious?” I turned around and laughed at him. Oh yeah this looks weird. Personally I blame my outrageous brain.
It had all began when I started to think about marriage. It was my turn to lead and as I cut down the tree branches and vines in front of me I wondered what I would do if someone proposed to me. Don’t judge me, I was very bored and my mind tends to wonder.
I was thinking about how I would feel if someone asked me to marry them, like honestly would I just say no and laugh and them or be really awed by their courage to ask me. Okay seriously Alice, maybe I should just see a psychiatrist.
But then we were in the middle of the jungle and the closest thing to a psychiatrist I had here was Alex. So I decided to do a little experiment to pass the time.
“Ask me to marry you.” I said, stopping in my tracks and turning around to look at him. He raised an eyebrow at me.
“She’s finally lost it!” he said to a nearby tree. Oh yeah, I’ve lost it (notice the heavy sarcasm), I’m not the one talking to random trees.
“No just ask me, I just wanna see how it feels like to be proposed to.” I begged him.
He scowled and muttered something like “Women these days” before finally saying, “Fine, Will you marry me?”
And thus let to this situation right now.
“Why won’t you answer me?” he said, really curious and mad.
“Why do you want to know? It doesn’t matter anyways, it’s just a test and I don’t have to answer.” I spoke as I walked onwards.
“Because you are hurting my pride and now I’m curious to know your answer!” He said, turning me around to face him. Oh god, his eyes were really wide and serious and begging me to tell him.
“No.” I said finally.
“No to what? The marriage proposal or telling me your answer.” He asked seriously. I can’t believe he wants to know so bad. Men and their egos.
“The marriage proposal.” I said laughing at him. Did he really think I would say yes?
“Why? What’s wrong with me?” He asked.
I raised my eyebrow at him. Did he really want to know?
“Okay fine, but answer this question at least. Why did you want to know?”
“Because no one could possibly like me enough to propose to me. That’s probably the only marriage proposal I’m ever going to get.” I said. Aww God Alice, great way to make yourself sad.
He looked at me and sighed. “You seriously don’t know the effect you have on people.” He said, piercing my eyes with his emerald green ones.
