After filling Sheriff in about Derek, Scott and Stiles sat on either side of me. For a second, I didn't move, but then I felt Stiles rub my back gently. I sat up with a sigh.

"I shouldn't have done that. I just couldn't tell him. I lied my ass off," I said, staring ahead of me at Derek and a deputy filling out paperwork.

"Hey, your ass is fine," Stiles tried to joke. I chuckled lightly. "Besides, you saved him a ton of unnecessary pain."

"Yeah, you did the right thing. We'll figure this out in a day or two, he goes back to being old Derek, and everyone's happy," Scott said.

"Expect for Derek, who's never happy," Stiles added.

"But it's just another person that we're lying to," I mumbled. I found myself leaning over to rest my head on Stiles' shoulder, and it seemed like the first bit of physical contact with him that I didn't mind. "I just... Isn't it better when we tell the truth? Everything gets easier. With Lydia, your mom, your dad, and my-... It's just easier."

"Okay, but that is Derek Hale in there," Stiles said, hoping to make me feel better. "He may be a kid right now, but he's still Derek Hale."

"Alright," Scott agreed. "Take him to my house and don't let him out of your sight."

"Where are you going?" Stiles asked.

"I'm gunna go talk to the guy we should've gone to before."

"Peter?" I grumbled at Scott's back, who was already walking away. "Seriously?!"

"Uh, yeah, I hate that guy!" Stiles called, just to remind everyone. We sat in silence for a minute, watching Derek and the deputy talk.

"How long do we you think we'll be here for?" I asked.

"Hours," he answered. I hummed in fake excitement.

"Great..."

By the time we got to Scott's house, it was dark, and I was pretty sure that I never wanted to see the inside of a sheriff's station again. Unfortunately, unless we planned on duct-tapping Derek in the bathtub, I wouldn't be going to sleep tonight.

I closed the door behind me with a sigh while Stiles told Derek why we were here—to wait for Scott. The lights were off, that's why I was more than a little surprised to see Mr. McCall standing in the middle of the living room with a giant brown paper bag in his hand, staring at us like he was curious to know why we were in the house without Scott.

Stiles jumped back, startled by McCall. "Oh, my god, are you getting taller?" McCall slipped a bored hand into his pocket, still holding the brown bag. The smell of delicious food wafted over to me.

"What are you guys doing here?" he asked.

Stiles and I glanced at each other, wondering who was going to make up the lie this time.

"Waiting for Scott," Derek replied.

"Yeah, so am I. We're supposed to have dinner," McCall grumbled. I squinted at him, forcing my tongue not to say 'well, I'd dip out on you, too'. "I brought extra. You guys hungry?"

"Yes!" Derek said at the same time while Stiles and I said no.

"We're not hungry," Stiles said pointedly, and Derek frowned.

"No, I'm starving," Derek replied.

"None of us are hungry," I said over him.

"Thanks, though," Stiles smiled.
