She had done it. Maggie had gotten the files, 'spooked' Prescott, and for the past month or so he hadn't contact me. Between that and the cases being rather slow, I had a lot of spare time to spend it either with Mags, or to get ready for the baby.
The following weekend after Mags got back from New York, we'd had the gender reveal party, it was just our family and a few of Mag's friends who'd traveled from Maryland to be here. She'd spent the day talking to them either about baby stuff, or them asking how was married life, on my side, with Ethan and the husbands of the other girls, it was just a lot of talking about how I wasn't going to get any more sex. That was all until Maggie snuck from behind me to grab her phone, which was near the table where we were sitting, and made the suggestive comment about how we had sex pretty much every day, which wasn't really a lie but it wasn't also something everyone needed to know.
When it was finally time to do the reveal, Mags and I had to stand one next to the other and hold a big black balloon.
The look on Maggie's face when she popped the balloon and it exploded with pink confetti, it was just undescribable. Her eyes were big and her lips were separated a little in awe.
I reached in to hold her by the waist, my other hand landed on the side of her belly. Everyone was cheering and some Maggie's friends had stood up to hug her, but she just remained in awe.
From over her friends shoulder she looked at me, and I smiled at her, lifting my hand to cup her cheek.
"It's a girl" she said to me, I nodded at her with a smile and she hugged herself to her friend.
It was like something snapped inside of her and she went from bewildered to overexcited in a second. She had a big smile on her face she couldn't conceal for the rest of the evening and her voice had pitched up so high she'd reduced all of her sentences to high pitch squeaks.
As soon as we got home after the party I guided her with my hand holding hers towards the kitchen.
"Come, I'll make you some tea"
"But I don't want tea" she said with a little confusion on her tone, still letting me guide her to the kitchen.
"Well, it's not for you, it's for her" I set the water to boil and reached my hand to rub the side of her belly, she had her hand on top of it, gently rubbing side to side.
"Why for her?" She asked with a little smile "she's fine"
"I bet your excitement is contagious, she's not going to let you sleep"
I busied myself with her tea whilst she sat down in the kitchen stool.
"Do you have a name for her?" I turned around to hand her the cup, and found her staring at me with a lifted eyebrow
"You're insulting me" she took the cup on her hand and gave me a shake of her head "of course I have a name for her"
I sat next to her and motioned at her with my hand.
"Tell me then"
She eyed me as she took a sip and shook her head.
