Ressler.
"Now this is more like the job I pictured you doing" I said when I caught a look at Mags, quietly painting the walls of a scaled down model of something, it was still unrecognizable.
She gave me an annoyed look before she returned back to her task.
"So, that painkiller request was serious" I said leaving the little bottle in front of her.
"Thank you" she whispered, taking the bottle and taking a pill, downing it with some water she had on the table.
"You sure you don't need anything else?" She just shook her head no while she got back to work.
Needless to say, I had never seen Maggie this way. She had this bubbly personality and always a smile on her face, and seeing her with a straight face didn't sit well with me.
"What's this all for?" I asked, getting her to talk to me, maybe forget about the pain that I'm pretty sure were period cramps.
"For a fucking dinosaur who doesn't understand modern technology and needs to have the scaled down model of what we're building." She replied annoyed.
"Need some help with it?" I offered, placing my hand on her cheek and silently caressing it "we can finish up faster and skip to bed if you want"
"Okay" she was reluctant about it, knowing that I had no idea what she was doing, but if all we had to do was paint, I could do that.
Before we got to it I fished a little chocolate from my briefcase and handed it to her, then unhooked my tie and loosened it up.
She gave me a little smile while she took it, and that little smile turned bigger with that gesture.
"Thank you baby" she said, opening up the pack.
"I hate to see you not being you Mags" I said, slowly caressing her shoulder, she pulled both of her legs up, propping her heels on the rim of the chair she was sitting on.
The chocolate seemed to have put her in a better mood, maybe it was also the Pain killers, she silently ate the whole block before talking to me again, I had rolled up my sleeves and was silently brushing with dark brown paint what it seemed to be a wall for the design.
"What's all that?" She pointed at the other side of the table, I left the brush down and leaned in to grab the papers
"Today's mail, this one was addressed to you"
I handed her two packs, one big Manila envelope and one small letter. She unwrapped the envelope first and smiled.
"Yes, I've been waiting for this one" she showed me the front of a design magazine "we need to change our bedroom, make it more cozy now that it's winter"
She left the magazine in the chair next to her, then moved to the letter
"Oh oh, you know what this means right?" She said waving the letter, I gave her a twist of eyebrows because no, I didn't know what that meant "it means someone is getting married, and it's not me" she whispered that last part, making me spark up another whole reaction in me.
