As the dog days of summer are in full swing both Stef and Lena had made plans to pick up Corey in a week or two. The blonde still had a week vacation left that she would use up before the school year began and they all felt it was time to leave the city for a bit.

The summer had been both stressful and a new beginning as they felt the best way to bring it to a close was to head up to Maine. Lena was both anxious and excited to go for it had been years since she stepped foot in her home, but she was always happy to bring Stef and Callie. Seeing her son too would put a smile on her face for it had been weeks since she laid eyes on him.

Lena knew he was okay, and each time she called, Corey sounded so happy. But at times her doubts crept in and she wasn't sure how he would feel about living in NYC. Would he be ok? Would he adjust? Would Frankie adjust? She just didn't know the answers yet and Lena was aware it was risk. A big one that her and Stef were wiling to take as long as their kids seemed to be okay with it.

One thing was certain was that the little family both Stef and Lena have merged together begins to run as smooth as butter if they were honest. Long gone are the thoughts that it's the end of the world for young Frankie who thought having Stef in her life would be nightmare. In fact for her it was anything but that as it turned out to be one of the most important relationships in her life and she really saw the blonde as her second mother. She also really was able to witness how much Stef loved her mother and visa versa which put many of her fears and anxieties to rest. For the most part anyway.

Callie as well begins to feel more and more at ease seeing how much Lena takes care of her mother and how much they both had seen so much in life. She knew the two always had feelings for each other, very deep feelings, but it wasn't until she got older how much she realized just how special it was. Callie always knew Lena would be apart of their lives, part of her mother's life and she could see and feel just how much the slim woman loved her and loved Stef.

But it was different in person. It was very different to visibly see it day in and day out for not only did it put a smile on the young girl's face, but also a relief in her demeanor. The young teen also loves being an older sister for Frankie, even helping her through her own transitioning period where she now had finally hit puberty and was questioning many things. One being her sexuality which Stef was very well aware of as well as Callie.

As the weeks moved on Stef's panic attacks still linger, and she struggles to tell her wife about them. But Lena knows and understands more than anything, and usually, most nights, she makes it a point to stay up and wait on her to see how her day had gone. Usually when Stef would call to check in Lena was fully able to tell just by the sound of her voice how her day was going.

Tonight is no different as the cop walks in around midnight, four hours after she was supposed to be off of work, but this was the life of being a cop, one that Lena is learning to live with more and more even if she still remains uncomfortable with where Stef works. But she knew the woman was not going to budge, and it would take a miracle for her to even blink.

STEF POV

"Hey, babe," I smile as I walk in our shared apartment to see Lena sitting at the kitchen table like usual with a steaming cup of tea. She smiles widely as she sees me and sets down her book, standing to hug me tightly. I had to admit it was nice to have her greet me every night like this and nice to make love most nights to the point I forgot what it was like to be alone.

"How are you, my love?" She kisses my lips softly as I smile and kiss her once more before pulling back.

"I'm good. Just tired. I should have been home long before now, but I had to work the scene of a bank robbery. The paperwork was horrendous, and we all had to give statements." I head over to the fridge to grab a beer as she leans against the counter and listens.  "Apparently this couple is trying to imitate Bonnie and Clyde. This is the fifth bank they've robbed within the last couple of months."
