Alec woke up by the sound of his alarm. Yesterday they unpacked all their clothes so the room felt like their room again. "Mags, get your ass going!", He said and trotted to the bathroom to brush his teeth, take a shower and do his hair. As usual, he dressed in sweatpants and a Tanktop. Some dancers preferred tights or leggings but he preferred tight sweatpants for training. "That was one hell of a charming wake up call, Alexander.", Magnus said and stepped into the bathroom as Alec left. "As always!", Alec replied and made himself coffee and ate an apple. Somehow Magnus and him stopped enjoying having breakfast downstairs with everyone, they would rather sleep a little longer. They kind of figured out their morning routine because with Magnus needing eternities to do his hair but showering on evenings, the time they needed at the bathroom was almost equal. "So, are you ready to start the day?", Magnus asked as he left the bathroom, looking like a god with eyeliner. Alec emptied his coffee and grabbed his duffel bag. "Yes! We will get paired with the new students today so I might be back in the room later than expected. I still didn't get my timetable." Magnus nodded:" Me neither. Anyways, good luck. See you!" "See you!", Alec said, gave him a little goodbye kiss and made it downstairs to the training room. He was pretty early so he checked his phone while waiting for the rest of his group to arrive. "Okay, your attention, folks!", Valentine commanded and immediately everyone stopped what they were doing to go and listen to Valentine. "All of you are ballet majors and the new students also all are focused on ballet so we decided the younger students get to pick their partner. So, you will get paired and we will have our ballet lesson with the younger students which basically means you guys do your best and they will watch and try to participate a little. And I know you all aren't back in shape yet, but remember you have to be role models to the younger ones so try your best. Don't overdo it with the stretching though, we don't want to start the year with injuries.", Valentine commanded and everyone nodded. "Speaking of injuries- how's your knee?", Maia asked and Alec chuckled:" It's pretty good. In summer break I did lots of Rehab and physiotherapy and stuff so it should be fine by know." Maia smiled:" That's good to hear. Just remember its now a weak spot of yours so of course it may hurt from time to time but just be careful." "Trust me, I will.", Alec replied and in that second, the doors of training room one swung open and the new students came in, guided by Jocelyn. "Hello!", Valentine greeted and by the facial expressions of the newbies, they really were surprised by how unwelcoming a hello can be. "Year one, year two, just stand up and year one, just pick a student of your choice. Girls pick girls, boys pick boys.", Jocelyn explained and nobody disobeyed. It didn't even take a minute until everyone was paired. "Hey, what's your name?", the year-one guy asked Alec. "Alec.", he replied, "And yours?" "Julian.", he replied. "Nice to meet you.", Alec said. "You too! ", Julian said and started fidgeting around, "How old are you?" "Twenty.", Alec chuckled, "Turning twenty-one soon. What about you?" "Eighteen.", Julian replied. "Everyone, listen up!", Valentine interrupted, "We aren't here to talk, we are here to dance so I will do my lesson with my students and year one, you just watch and try to follow along so you know what is expected of you in year two. Let's go, warmup!" Without a word, everyone gathered around and sat onto the floor. The warmup wasn't hard itself but somehow Alec got exhausted really fast. "Come on, pull through!", Jocelyn tried to motivate the troupe but was immediately snapped at by Valentine:" They know they have to pull through." Jocelyn just shot a confused look back at him but didn't reply. Alec's abs were burning but he knew he couldn't give up now. "Ten more!", Valentine commanded and Alec shut his eyes as he heard Simon next to him groan. As he opened the eyes again he realized that all year one students gave up already. That still kind of motivated him to pull through the exercise. When they were finished with their muscle warmup, they started to do their stretching. Looking, around, the first graders were quite flexible. They rather struggled with strength. But that was totally fine and Alec very well remembered how it felt to be in year one. "Okay, to the bar, everyone!", Valentine commanded and it didn't took the troupe two minutes to line up, their year one partners behind them. "Let's start with some pliés, Jetés and Tendus just to get the basics all set.",he said and put on the music. Without hesitation, everyone did the movements he showed and although Alec didn't feel as if he technically as strong as before summer break he was quite happy with his results. "Other side!", Valentine commanded and everyone turned around. Now, Julian was in front of Alec. With horror, he saw how his partner was messing up the easiest exercises. His technique was awful, the turnout was bad and his feet weren't really pointed either. While they were doing their exercises, Valentine kept on explaining what they would have to do with their year one partners. "So, you are free for the rest of your day but we want you to spend the day with your partners, showing them the building, explaining them their timetables, telling them what to bring to class and making sure they know all the basics. Alec inhaled sharply- that sounded like a lot of work, especially seeing Julians technique. "Excuse me, but how are the dance teams inside the group? Which girl is paired with which boy?", Maia asked. "That's another thing you will have to do with the one graders. You remember how we did it last year, now it's your responsibility to do the same with your partners. The training room is yours.", Valentine said and clapped his hands which meant the training was finished. Alec sighed- dear lord.
