"Okay, gather around everyone!", Maia commanded and everyone sat down on the ground in a circle around her. "We have three main things to do today. First, we have to elect our dance captain, then we have to choose our partners and them we will have to run the partner program on our first year students as well so they get paired up perfectly." Raphael nodded and stood up:" Exactly, so everyone remember these partners are your constant partners in technical training but for choreo you might get paired up with completely different people, those pairs are just for practicing." Maia nodded:" Right, so I would love to start with the dance captain election. Now that we are in year two we definitely need one to run the rehearsals and help out Valentine as he will be focused on our year one students." "Exactly. I would just say everyone makes a suggestion?", Raphael added. "I would like to be dance captain!", Maureen said. Alec whirled around- he couldn't remember when he last heard Maureen's voice. She used to be rather shy and closed up but it looked like she has changed. And, she had great technique and was very organized so why not? "I think that's a great idea. Maureen is technically strong, organized and I am sure she can do great choreo as well.", Alec said. "That's great. Anyone else wanting to say something?", Maia asked but everyone seemed to be fine with Maureen. "Alright, it's Maureen then.", Raphael laughed and sat down while Maureen walked in the center of the circle. "That's awesome. So, let's partner up then. I would say we do some basic lifts, jumps and just classic partnering to find our match. Year one, please watch because we will do something very similar when it's your turn." The four boys remaining stood in every corner of the room and the girls walked around and tried their trick with the boys. Alec and Maia matched immediately. They just really fit well together. Alec was calm and very focused, Maia was passionate and very emotional. She gave him the emotion he lacked in his dancing and he gave her the technical support to pull through without mistakes. They really went well together, they always have and probably always will. Alec noticed Maureen and Raphael were struggling with a one hand lift. That was weird because they used to go well together too. Looking around, Alec noticed Simon paired up with Gretel which was a very interesting combination. Simon was rather clumsy while Gretel was very strong and almost elegantly aggressive on her dancing. Gretel really was a special dancer and the more Alec thought about it, the more he realized that Simon would frame her pretty well. That only left the ultimate evil duo consisting of graceful and extremely fast Jonathan and Aline whose dancing was rather over the top, extra and all about the dazzle and sparkle. A pretty amazing match, he had to admit. "Alright, it's your turn now. Boys, line up where your tutors just stood and girls, walk around and trie following tricks: A one hand lift, a pick up from the ground, one figure where the girl runs towards the boy and jumps on his hips and one partnering of your choice for example him supporting her pirouettes or other figures like vertical splits or something. Go!", Maureen commanded and the students did what they were told. Or, let's rather say they tried. Alec was standing besides Julian to give corrections and to secure some lifts. And that security was really needed. "Hey, you almost dropped her.", Alec hissed as Julian messed up the one hand lift. "Yeah I am sorry.", Julian replied sloppily. Alec frowned. He would expect a little more commitment. "You know this can't happen, right? The number one rule is do not ever drop the girl, no matter what.", Alec said and Julian just nodded as if he wasn't paying too much attention to it anyways:" You'll teach me how to do loft on Wednesday anyways." Alec's jaw dropped. How was that supposed to work out? He couldn't just make someone a great dancer in a couple of hours. Alec sighed as Valentine entered the room. "Alexander, can I speak to you for a second?", He asked and Alec immediately followed him put of the door. When Valentine says he wants to talk to you, that's never good news. "So, you are partnered up with Julian, right?", He asked and Alec nodded. "I have been watching a little bit of the rehearsal and I noticed it isn't going too well." Alec scratched his forehead:" Yeah, unfortunately he really isn't the greatest lifter." Valentine nodded:" We know. In fact, he isn't the greatest in anything, especially not in dance." Alec frowned:" How did he get accepted then?" Valentine took a deep breath:" Well, he didn't. To be completely honest, he didn't even audition. He is here because he is our new Heads Helen Blackthorns little brother." Alec sharply sucked in some air. "I know this is not what you hoped to hear. And it won't get better.", Valentine said, "You are teamed up with him because you are technically strong. I know I have been hard on you and I will continue to do so but it's just because I want to prep you for the real dance world. You are one of the strongest dancers and we believe in you. You have to do your absolute best to help Julian and no matter what he does don't ever go behind his back, don't ever tell Helen about whatever shit he might pull of and never ever let him find any dirt on you. Whatever he asks you to, you do. Whatever he wants, he gets. Wherever he goes, you go, and if you don't you don't ever go to Helen and talk bad about him. You will have to treat him like a Prince and it won't be easy for any of us." Alec swallowed. That just made everything a whole lot more complicated.
