Chapter twenty

Magnus was on his way to an audition for an advertisement. The weather was great and he was really excited. This job was huge and he was really motivated to slay. At the last few auditions, he didn't even make the final cut. This Time he was going to do better, he promised himself. When he stepped into the location he saw a very well known face. He rolled his inner eyes. There he was again- that guy that got every audition so far. His name was Lorenzo Ray and he was an independent dancer meaning he didn't belong to a certain studio. He was always there with his manager and seemed to kill every audition. Magnus didn't even wonder why- it was obvious. He was always concentrated, his clothes looked perfect, his muscles popped out, his hair was not moving a single inch- just the visual first impression was flawless. He wasn't really Magnus' type but he could understand why people would consider him genuinely handsome. On top of being appealing to the eyes, he also was an amazing dancers. He could hold his leg in developpé for forever, his jumps were higher than he has ever seen before. His technique was perfect and on point all the time. What he did wasn't human. It seemed like he had a never ending amount of energy. And Magnus wanted that so bad. He wanted to have his energy. His stamina. His power. "Lorenzo Ray please!", A lady said through the loudspeaker and Lorenzo entered the audition room. Like everyone else, Magnus got up to peek through the glass part of the door to see a legend perform flawlessly as always. How was this even human?, Magnus asked himself. He had no idea. "Magnus Bane.", The same voice said through the loudspeaker. Very fortunate, Magnus thought. Obviously he would have to be next. "We will play a video on the screen above and we are asking you to follow along.", A man said and Magnus took his place next to the barre. Unlike he expected, it wasn't the same video Lorenzo was shown. But, he did his best to.follow along. "Good job, thank you.", The man finished after about 10 minutes and Magnus left the door- now he knew he would just have to wait and see if he made it through the first cut. "That looked good in there. You have a lot of potential.", Lorenzo approached. Everything inside Magnus' froze- he was talking to him? "Thank you- I wish I could be as good as you.", Magnus stuttered and Lorenzo chuckled and pulled him aside. "Want to know my secret?", he grinned. Magnus smiled:" Yes?" Out of his pocket, Lorenzo fidgeted a small, orange pill box and gave it to Magnus. "Take one of these before a performance or an audition. You'll be blown away." Magnus frowned:" What is this?" Lorenzo chuckled:" Don't worry, it won't do you any harm. These pills give your brain the information that you're being successful right now and doing something big- which you are. Because of that, your brain will release Serotonin and a lot of adrenaline and prepare your body for a fight. I swear on this stuff.", Lorenzo explained. Magnus still was a little critical- could pills even do that? And would it really have such a big effect? "I know you doubt this right now but just try it out. It will make the best come out of your body. And technically it isn't even doping so you could use it at competition. That stuff is great. It brings out the best in you and makes you feel this energy- you're unstoppable after taking one of these." That sounded really tempting- there was nothing wrong with trying, right? "How much do you want?", Magnus asked after a quick second of hesitation. "The fist one is free. If you like it and it works for you I will sell more to you. But I don't want to charge you for something that might not even work for you. Just try this and let me know later.", Lorenzo said and gave Magnus one of the pills. It was pale orange and matched the box a little. "These are the dancers that made the final cut: Lorenzo Ray, Irene Rupert, Chiara Mendelion, Larson Zar, Michelle McCrimney and Magnus Bane. The reaudition starts in half an hour. Prepare.", The woman's said through the loudspeaker. Magnus couldn't believe his ears- he made it. He made the final cut. For the first time ever. It has been a long time since Magnus has been that excited. The pill felt smooth in his hand. Why not try it now? Quickly, he grabbed his water bottle and swallowed the pill. Then he got on the floor to start stretching. Not much has happened and Magnus suspected Lorenzo has scammed him but he was wrong. Very wrong. Suddenly, an insane rush of energy waved through his body. He felt unstoppable. He felt unbreakable. He felt undefeatable. He felt a sudden strength and power in his limbs. As if his arms has been replaced with robotic pieces. It was like he had a new body. It was insane. Everything around him became blurry, but not in a bad way. Nothing else seemed to matter. He felt so distant from the pain and the drama- he just felt good. And only good. He felt like he could conquer the world right now. "Dancers, please enter the room!", The loudspeaker said and everyone did as they were told. "Thank you for participating. We will now make a few balance tests as we need you to hold still in uncomfortable poses for the photoshoot.", The man in the room said. The Assistent who spoke to them through the loudspeaker pulled out a clock and handed it to the man. "Adagio, now.", He commanded and everyone did as the were told. The first one to drop out of the position was cut. It wasn't long until Lorenzo and Magnus were the last one in the room. "Attitude back.", The man announced the last pose. Magnus didn't even gasp. Attitudes weren't his best poses but right now he couldn't feel any pain. He felt like he could do it forever. And so did Lorenzo. It was like a battle between the untouchables. "That's enough, thank you. Magnus, your facial expressions will look better on photos as you're more charismatic. That matches our brand better than Lorenzo's sleek look. You've got the job.", The man said, "Congratulations. We will email you the information."
