The girl with mismatched eyes POV

"Let me in! Please!" Someone shouts from outside.

I look to Scar, Fin and Zila, and nod my head.
Cautiously, I walk to the door, and it hisses open.

"...Aurora?" Is the only thing he says before he collapses, purple blood spilling from a wound in his side.

"Holy cake!" I cry, and try to catch him, but end up being a human cushion.
"Zila! He's hurt!" I cry.

I may hate him, but I'm not gonna let him die.

Fin and Zila rush over to him, and try and lift him. Scar hangs back, her expression saying everything that she's not.

"Scar, help us."

She snaps out of her haze and rushes over to help us pick up Kal.

"Bring him to my room." I tell them.

"Mum? Dad?" Ty says, clinging to Cat.

"I'll distract them." Scar says, and before I can protest she leaves, disappearing with her children into their room.

We half carry/half drag Kal to my room, and set him down on my bed.

I glance at the book that I've hollowed out on the shelf, containing the letters that I wrote to him in the long seven years that he's been gone.

Seven years since he betrayed us.

I rush out of the room with Zila to grab some medical supplies from the kitchen cabinet.
"What do we need?" I ask.

"Anything at all. I couldn't save Cat, but I'm sure as hell gonna save Kal." She replies, tense.

I shove bandages and medicine into my arms, and rush back to my room.
"So, were gonna help him?" Fin asks.

"Yeah."

Zila comes back in and carefully sets down her supplies.
"Auri, in Octavia training did you know how to put in an IV?"

"Yeah." Zila hands me a needle.
"Do it."

I put the IV in his wrist and watch his eyes flutter.
"Aaand...done!"

I finish and put the needle in the bin. I walk over to my desk and grab my headphones, slipping them over Kal's head, and putting on Electric Love by BØRNS.

Maybe it'll help. Maybe not.

"Okay, Auri, Fin, can you push him over so he rests on his stomach?" Zila asks, and Fin and I push him over.

I gasp. His entire back is drenched in Purple blood.
"Kill shot..." Zila mutters.

"Someone must rrrrreally hate him." Fin jokes, but no one laughs.

"He's under sedation, yes?" Zila asks me, and I nod my head.
"Okay, were going to remove the shrapnel from the blast."

I cut away his shirt, and clean his back with water so we can see the wound clearly.
"What if I just get rid of the shrapnel with my powers?"

"Your powers are destructive, Auri. It would hurt him more."

"Oh."

She holds out a hand.
"Pass me the tweezers."

I hand them over, and say a silent prayer.
Please don't die. Maybe this time we can fix things. I missed you.

I pause.
I love you.

"I need you all to leave. Too distracting." Zila says, and we file out of the room.

"I'm scared." I whisper.

"You still like him, don't you?"

I nod my head, and Fin chuckles.
"You guys were maaaaaaade to be."

"Shut up."

"Neverrrrr. Not when the flame still burnssss."

"Fin!"

He laughs, and the crushing weight of dread is lifted.

"Is he okay?" Scar calls.

"He should be."

"I don't want him here. Not near my kids."

"He won't do anything bad. Not with me here."

"Auri, are you sure?"

"Sure.

"The real question is, how the hell did he find us? We haven't left in years." Fin says.

"Um. Confession time? I've been leaving."

"What the hell, Auri?!"

"I-I just wanted to see sunlight again. And I...oh god."

Scar takes a deep breath.
"Auri, were all here because of you. But you gotta understand, the whole goddamn galaxy is after us."
"You can't go outside."

"I-I'm sorry."

She comes up to me and pulls me into a hug.
"At least you're got a boyfriend out of it."

"...I'm sorry what now?"

She laughs just as Zila emerges.
"The operation was a success."

I break out into a grin, and run over to Zila, crushing her into a hug.
"Thank you thank you thank you!"

"It is...no problem, Auri. I know how much he means to you."

I sprint into my room, but Kal is still unconscious from the operation.

I sit down next to the bed.
"I missed you." I whisper.
"So, so much."

"So..did...I." Kal groans.

"Kal?! Oh my god, your okay!" I bend over and hug him.

"I'm...better than ever thanks to you."

I smile.
"How did you get hurt?"

"That does not concern us right now. What did I miss?"

"Um, Scar and Fin has some kids?"

"What are their names?"

"Tyler and Cat."

He hugs me tighter at that.
"I missed you. Every day, every minute, every hour."

"Every second?"

"Every second."

Hot tears spill from my eyes.

"Be'shmai? Are you okay?"

"Just...you here. Us. Everything."

"Do you want to leave?"

"Never."
