The next morning Dalton woke up before Hope which wasn't unusual and so he decided he would go on his morning jog.
As got himself dressed he noticed Hopes feet poking out the bottom of the duvet, but when he went to cover them he noticed she had a small slash on the underside of her left foot.
At first he brushed it off thinking she'd maybe cut it whilst she had been cleaning up but then he noticed someone had stitched it up. He decided his morning jog could wait because his curiosity was now killing him.
He crawled back into bed beside Hope in nothing but his grey sweats, without hesitation she cuddled back into him but he had to wake her up.
He gently shook her as he peppered kisses all over her face to which she smiled and rolled over so he couldn't reach her face anymore
"Come on baby, it's time to get up!" He whispered
"Mmm no!" She groaned pulling the covers from him and her pillow over head
"Yes, come on!" He laughed pulling her back to him
"I want to sleep!" She whined as she placed her head on his chest
"Baby, what happened to your foot?" He asked softly
"Nothing!" She smiled it was now obvious she was completely oblivious to the small slash that her foot now had
"I'm afraid your wrong Hope, there's a cut that's been stitched!"
"Brooke!" She groaned as she dramatically rolled her half open eyes
"It never ends with her does it?" He sighed
"What if she put something in my foot?" She panicked
"Like what?"
"I don't know a tracker!"
"I highly doubt that sweetheart but we can have your mom use her magic to find out!"
"Ok, but I'm going back to sleep first and your going for your run!" She ordered.
A few hours later Hope had made her way downstairs but Dalton still hadn't returned from his run. Normally she'd be worried but she figured he'd found something interesting or of importance to his family.
She took the extra time he was gone to spend with her parents who were sat at the kitchen table with her. Emma had made the four of them pancakes but was wondering why Dalton wasn't up yet.
She breached the question to Hope who laughed and told her he had gone on a run to which Emma shot a look at Killian before telling him he should accompany him tomorrow.
Eventually Dalton returned and Hopes heart fluttered in her chest, sure she thought he was good looking all the time but he looked almost a million times hotter when he got back from a run.
"You were gone ages!" She smiled as he planted a kiss into the side of her head and as much as she loved how he looked when he returned from a run she wasn't fond of the smell "Babe you smell!" She laughed
"Yeah, sorry I'm going to go for a shower!" He smiled as he ran off up the stairs.
Emma and Killian had already started getting ready for whatever Snow had planned for them all that day when Hope decided she would start getting ready.
She fished her makeup bag out of her suitcase before sitting in the middle of her bed as she didn't have a dressing table in the her bedroom.
She was around half way through her makeup when Dalton came out of the joined bathroom in nothing but a towel. Hope raised her eyebrows at him but got nothing back which confused her as he would never normally turn down her advances (no matter how small they were).
"Alright what's going on?" She asked throwing her pallet down into the bed
"Nothing, what makes you think something's going on?" He rambled
"You do! I know you almost better than I know myself Dalton and I know when somethings bothering you so..."
"Hope, nothing is wrong I assure you!" He smiled as he handed her back the pallet she had thrown down
"Out with it!" She yelled her hormones taking control
"For the last time nothing is going on!" He snapped back as he grabbed his clothes and headed back to the bathroom.
A few moments later there was a knock at the door Hope welcomed whoever it was in as it was far better than speaking to Dalton. She was pleased when she saw her mother wander in and sit at the end of the bed
"Wow!" She smiled as she looked around the room
"What?" Hope laughed
"I haven't been in here since we left, I completely forgot how beautiful it was in here!"
"You and Dad decorated it!"
"Yeah, I wanted it to be a little less swan themed but your father insisted!" She smiled "But that's not why I'm here!"
"No, I take it you heard the minor row we had?" She sighed as she flicked her eyes to the bathroom door
"Yeah, it was either me or your dad that came to see what was going on so I figured I'd come find out!"
"Basically he was being weird and I wanted to know why but he was being all 'nothings wrong' and whatever!" She huffed
"So you were snooping?" She laughed
"What no! He was being weird!"
"Ok, well Mom wants us to meet her and everyone else in the woods in ten," she smiled before turning her head to the bathroom door "Dalton do you think you can get your ass ready in ten minutes?"
Hope rolled her eyes furiously at her mother before the door unlocked with a fully dressed and ready Dalton stood behind it.
"So we're just waiting on you!" Emma smiled tapping Hopes knee before leaving.
Hope threw herself back into the bed and yelled a
"I'm not going!" To her mother who laughed from down the hall
"Oh yes you are! I'll have Gramps come get you!"
Hope rolled her eyes for a third time that morning before getting off the bed and diving into her suitcase pulling out a mid length black skirt, red t-shirt, over the knee boots and her black leather jacket.
"You look beautiful!" Dalton smiled clearly trying to make amends for his earlier behaviour
"Hope, look something was up but it doesn't matter!"
"So why can't you just tell me?" She asked softly pushing her head into his chest
"I could but it'd be easier for me to show you, on our way home I'll show you!"
After the long (and boring) day of learning the family history Snow had planned Dalton made good on his promise and took her to see what was up with him earlier.
Hope found herself walking down Maine street and then off down a slip road to wind up stood in front of Daltons childhood home. She was confused as to why it put him in such a bad mood surely he had happy memories of this home.
He and his family had returned to the Enchanted Forest four years after everyone else as Ashley wanted her children to be raised 'normally' before they returned and Thomas took over the Magic Kingdom.
"I don't get it?" Hope smiled shaking her head
"That's because your not looking," he sighed but as far as Hope was aware her vision was crystal clear.
"I am!" She defended before rushing into the garden
"Hope! Don't go in!" He pleaded not wanting her to see the real reason for his bad mood
"Oh shush! Your parents are Cinderella and her Prince Charming you make it sound like I'm going to find her stepmothers corpse under the porch!" She laughed as she pushed the door open.
"Oh my god!" She screamed
"Hope!?" Dalton yelled running in after her
"Dalton it's beautiful in here!"
"Jesus Hope I thought you saw it!" He panted
"Saw what?" She asked whipping her head round to look at him and that's when she laid eyes on it.
