It had been a week since Hope and Zack got engaged and since then she had officially asked him to move in with her and James.
"Mom, look uh I know I said I'd stop asking but..." he sighed looking everywhere but in his moms direction
"What's going on kid?" She smiled handing him his breakfast
"Where's my dad? Didn't he want me? Is he dead? Does he know about me?" He asked almost bursting into tears.
Hope rushed around to the other side of the counter and threw her arms around her son despite him telling her he was a 'grown up' now and it's not cool to be hugged by your mom.
"James, your Dad did want you no he's not dead and he most definitely knows about you!" She smiled comfortingly
"Then why have I never met him? Why whenever I ask about him do you shut me down?" He asked stabbing his pancakes harshly
"Calm down!" She warned "Look, life gets messy and with your dad things were really messy!"
"So what? You ran away from him?"
"Sort of yeah! I'm going to come clean and when I do you can't freak out or call me crazy because everything I'm about to tell you is 1000% true!"
"Ok...tell me everything!"
So just as he had told her to Hope revealed everything about their family. From Henry finding their mum all those years ago to the Black Fairy's curse and eventually why she had to leave Dalton.
At first James looked at her as if she was insane and needed to be put into a straight jacket and then thrown into a padded cell. But then all the stories she had told him as a child began to come flooding back to him, specifically the one about a princess (who was more of a pirate) that was out with the king when she was attacked by a shark but she didn't die because the king saved her.
James had always thought his mom was the princess in the story as he knew she had been attacked by a shark as he had seen the scarring on her leg but he presumed she'd done it in the sea somewhere.
"So let me get this straight... my grandparents are the Saviour, Captain Hook Cinderella and her Prince Charming, my great-grandparents are Snow White and Prince Charming and my dad is a king called Dalton?"
"That's it yeah!" Hope smiled hoping he would wrap his head around it
"Hope? What the hell is going on?" Zack asked from the kitchen door. Shit! He'd heard everything, now he was going to think she was insane and have her locked up.
"Nothing!" She lies as she turned to make him his morning coffee
"Hope?" He asked sternly
"Fine! I was telling James the absolute truth!" She admitted
"Yeah I heard! But don't you think your both a bit too big for fairytales now?" He laughed
"Yeah!" She laughed as she rolled her eyes
"Now I know why I always loved Captain Hook so much!" James laughed going along with Zack's teasing although he really did believe his mom.
After a while Zack left to pick up his parents from the airport leaving Hope and James alone
"Mom?" He called from their couch
"Mhm!"
"Can we go?" He asked popping his head up over to arm of the couch
"Go where?" She asked
"Home!"
"What? We are home!"
"No! To where our family is!"
"Our family is right here! Me, you and Zack!"
"No, Mom! Let's go home we can take Zack with us and live there! Then I can meet my dad and I can fight with dragons!"
"Woah! Nobody will be fighting any dragons although if they let Brooke out maybe you might get to watch me do it!" She laughed.
Before James could say anything Zack and his parents walked in bearing gifts for Hope and James.
"Mr and Mrs Diaz!" Hope smiled as they embraced her in their warm arms
"Hello darling!" Mrs Diaz smiled at James "This is for you!"
"Woah! Mom look it's a new game!" He cheered running to his computer and throwing the disc in, Hope threw a grateful smile at Zack's parents before engaging in general conversation about his siblings and how they were doing when Mrs Diaz told them they were officially back on speaking terms with Zack's older sister Rosa after she came out to them as bisexual
"Well that's amazing!" Hope smiled "I get on really well with Rosa, that is when she isn't smashing up my wifi box because it's 'too slow'!" she laughed
Enchanted Forest
Life in the forest was pretty boring now that all the villains had officially given up on trying to kill everything and everyone. So the family spent most of their days doing normal jobs but none of them felt any joy in doing so anymore
"Can we order a new villain?" Emma laughed as she threw herself into her desk chair
"I'm afraid not love!" Killian smiled following her into her office
"Sheriff Swan!" A villager called, Emma rolled her eyes and dropped her grilled cheese before rushing outside to see what was going on
"Yes!" She smiled sweetly although she wanted to throttle this guy for making her leave her grilled cheese, oh and her husband yeah definitely that too.
"We have revived word that Princess Hope is alive!" He smiled but Emma quickly slapped handcuffs around his wrists and marched him into a cell.
She stormed back into her office and slammed the door shut behind her startling Killian and gained his full attention at the same time
"What is it love?"
"That guy had the nerve to tell me our Hope is still alive!" She scoffed as she shook her head
"How dare he! I think if our daughter was still alive she would've come home by now!" He yelled as to make sure the villager could hear him
"Killian, what if she is alive but she's too scared to come home? What if she had to fake her death?" She asked completely serious
"Then I'd say let's go find our daughter but considering she isn't I say we tell the people of this bloody kingdom to leave our daughters name out of their mouths!"
Emma nodded in agreement before returning to her grilled cheese and flicking on the TV as she did so.
"Sources have been coming in all morning revealing that Princess Hope is in fact alive and has been living in Boston for the last 10 years! We have been sent these photos from an anonymous source. The Princess looks to be in perfect health, in a happy ENGAGEMENT and have a devilishly handsome son!"
Emma and Killian's jaws dropped in astonishment, their daughter wasn't dead. She had never been dead, she was hiding from something but they had no idea what from.
"Swan!" Killian breathed tears racing down his face
"Killian! We have to go and find her!"
"Aye love that we do!"
