"Merlin's beard, what happened in there, Y/n? We could hear the shouting out here!" Ron's voice was the first thing I heard when I stepped out of the hospital wing. The three Gryffindors running up to me the first thing I saw.

I waved them off, the fit Malfoy threw not worth explaining.

"Pissing him off, even more, isn't worth it, you know. It'll just make things more difficult for you," Harry said calmly and I lifted my eyebrows, amused.

"See, I haven't been around for very long but even I can tell that you saying that might just be a tad hypocritical, Harry," I said laughing.

"She's right," Hermione sighed. "He deserves it."

The four of us walked through the corridors of the big castle, I wasn't quite sure where we were headed.

"That was a really bad thing to happen in Hagrid's first lesson though, wasn't it?" Ron broke the silence, looking worried. I nodded in agreement. "They wouldn't sack him, would they?" Hermione chimed in when we entered the Great hall but couldn't spot Hagrid at the staff table. "They better not," said Ron.

I was just about to sit down at the Gryffindor table with Harry, Ron and Hermione who had already taken a seat, when I caught Wren waving me towards the Slytherin table, patting the empty seat next to her on the bench.

"Sorry guys, I guess I should at least try to get to know them more," I said, giving them an apologetic smile and nodding towards my house table. Both Harry and Hermione nodded, understanding where I was coming from.

Ron, on the other hand, just frowned. Maybe he was still concerned with what would happen to Hagrid and I decided to not give it a second thought.

I turned around, starting to walk back up the aisle to get to Wren, her eyes following me through the room. I smiled.

Just as I was about to be out of hearing distance from the trio, something Ron said caught my attention. "It's just, you know what I always say, there's not a single witch or wizard who went bad who wasn't in Slytherin."

I pretended to not have heard him, but initially almost stopped dead in my tracks, ready to confront Ron about what he was implying. "-Quit it, Ron! That's the second time now!" Hermione interfered, "That's Harry's sister."

As the distance between me and the Gryffindor table grew, I couldn't hear how their conversation played out any further.

Since I met the ginger last night, I was under the impression Ron and I had gotten along just fine. We made each other laugh, shared our passion for food; I didn't know he had a problem with me just because I was sorted into Slytherin.

After all, that wouldn't change my personality, would it?

"You look like you've seen a ghost, are you alright?" Wren asked as I sat down next to her. "Yeah, I'm fine," I said, putting on a smile. I wasn't going to have Ron's stupid comment ruin the dinner I've been looking forward to since waking up this morning. And after the day I've had, I deserved it.

"-Anyway, then that beast attacked Draco, just like that. Completely out of nowhere!" A few seats down a large group of Slytherins, including Malfoy's two goons, were deep in conversation.

They were bragging about how brave Malfoy had been, cooking up their own version of the events that played out in Hagrid's class today.

"Crabbe and Goyle are gonna be the death of me," Wren grumbled next to me. "If they crawl up Malfoy's arse any further, they'd live there."

"What are the other common rooms like?" I wondered after Wren and I had reached the Slytherin Dungeons after dinner.

"Don't know, never been in any of them," She shrugged. "But rumour has it Ravenclaw's common room is one of a kind, especially with the view. It's in one of the tallest towers of Hogwarts." Wren continued, seemingly amazed about what she had heard.

"Now, of course as a Slytherin, I'd have to say our common room is obviously the best!" She rolled her eyes and laughed at her own joke. We let ourselves fall on one of the black couches in front of the fireplace.

"You're not very big on house pride then?" I asked curiously but she quickly shook her head in disagreement. "That's not it, you won't meet a Slytherin that cheers louder during our quidditch matches!" She clarified, still with a smile on her lips. "But giving credit where its due is what most of them struggle with," Her eyes wandered the room and she nodded towards a group of Slytherins sitting across from us. "So what if one of the common rooms is better than ours? We still have the best witches and wizards." A laugh escaped my lips and she just gave me a wink, laughing as well.

I was glad it was Wren I had acquainted myself with. She seemed interesting and not one to follow the stream, necessarily. She thought for herself; that was important.

Her short hair was tucked behind her ear on one side, leaving the black part of it naturally falling down. "You dyed that?" I asked, pointing towards the two different colours of her hair that were separated by her middle parting. While the left side was a light silver colour, the other one contrasted perfectly with a dark black.

"No, my mom had silver-, and my dad black hair. There's like a one in a million chance it turns out this way." She said with a slight smirk, her hands running through her hair. "Really?" I followed up, unsure whether something like that was even possible.

She quickly shook her head, already laughing. "Of course not, I dyed it at the end of last year, silly!"

"If you're this easily gullible, maybe you should've ended up a Hufflepuff." I rolled my eyes as Malfoy entered my field of vision, a sling around his arm. Wren sighed and leaned back into the couch, completely ignoring the boy. I wish I could do the same but teasing him was simply too much fun.

"I heard it's rude to eavesdrop, Malfoy," I smirked in response.

"Well, next time keep your annoying voice down, the whole common room can hear it." He spat, pointing towards the few students left; none of them really paying any attention to us, though.

Without waiting for a reply he headed towards the boy's dormitories and left through the dark wooden door.

"You enjoy this way too much," Wren laughed slightly and I drop the smirk on my face immediately.

"Anyway," I trailed off, trying to change the topic. "I like it." My eyes focused on her hair again, "The hair," I clarified quickly at her confused look.

Her gaze immediately turned towards the floor, a subtle blush forming on her cheeks. "Well thanks, Potter."
