Dragons.

That definitely wasn't ideal.

While Cedric Diggory and Fleur Delacour had already tackled their dragons, both in very different approaches, it was Viktor's turn now.

Neither of the prior contestants managed to execute their plans correctly; Diggory ending up getting his face burned and Delacour setting her skirt on fire.

At the moment, it seemed as if Vik wouldn't be met with the same fate. After blinding his dragon using the Conjunctivitis Curse, he was making a run for the egg, completely undisturbed by the dragon.

The Durmstrang stands were roaring loudly, supporting their favourite, while a few students scattered throughout the Hogwarts stands were cheering for him as well. Myself included.

I ended up unwillingly sitting right behind Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle, who were all rooting for Viktor, too. I could only imagine the slander once Harry got into the arena and sighed at the thought of it.

Just as I thought there was nothing that could go wrong anymore, Vik's dragon lost control, stumbled, and squashed half the egg. I cursed loudly, hoping they'd still let it pass.

The stadium was quiet once he reached the egg, everyone's eyes on Dumbledore, waiting for him to announce whether half an egg was still a win. The headmaster got up and nodded, before announcing all the three contestants so far have successfully retrieved the egg, even though Vik had points deducted for the destruction.

The stadium broke out into cheers and applause, even the students not rooting for Durmstrang had the courtesy to do so.

I felt myself growing more and more anxious after everyone had calmed down, knowing it was Harry's turn now. I didn't even know if he had a plan, at all.

"I'll give him ten minutes before he either dies or quits voluntarily," Malfoy said. He wasn't looking at me, but I could practically hear the smirk on his face.

I rolled my eyes at his comment before smacking my flat hand across the back of his head. "Is there anything in the world that'll make you shut up?" I groaned, an eyebrow raised as he turned around.

He glared at me but didn't say anything. Instead, just turning back to face the arena. "Come on, Draco! Why do you let her talk to you like that?" Goyle whispered, and Crabbe furiously nodded in agreement.

The blonde looked back and forth between his friends, thinking for a moment, before smacking his hands across the back of their head. Making him mirror my motion exactly.

A small smile found itself on my lips as I watched him divert his attention off of the two.

My attention only snapped back to the arena when I heard the roaring of a dragon, my eyes flickering over the scene to find Harry in it. I watched the dragon attack, gasping every time Harry was hit, thrown around or almost burnt to death.

This wasn't off to a great start, was it?

I watched in anticipation as he finally pulled out his wand, shouting a spell that none of us could hear at this distance. It took a while before anything happened.

I was at a point where I would've believed he forgot how to do magic altogether, but sighed in relieve as I saw his broomstick approaching in the distance. Good call.

I continued cheering for him, and the rest of the Hogwarts students began to do the same as he immediately went for the egg. It seemed as if Harry had a good shot at grabbing it, his hand already off the broomstick, ready to do just that. But he missed it by just a few inches.

I cursed under my breath once more and noticed Malfoy doing the same; just an awful less obvious. He turned around, seemingly feeling my eyes on him.

He seemed irritated, his eyebrows furrowed as he looked straight at me. "What?" He spat, confused as to why I was looking at him and turned back around.

I looked back at Harry flying up in the air, but a loud noise grabbed my attention. Was the chain supposed to break this easily?

I looked around the arena in shock, finding everyone else to look exactly how I felt, too. Screams and gasps filled the stadium as Harry bolted through the Professor's seats, the dragon right on his tail.

He flew towards the castle, further and further into the distance before they disappeared in it completely. All that was audible were the distant growls, roars and the fire-spitting.

After a while, the noise stopped. It became eerily quiet in the arena, too. Everyone was looking around, trying to make out where he could've gone.

But there was nothing.

My heart dropped, my eyes still looking into the direction my brother had flown off to. I didn't dare to look away even for a second.

The silence was deafening, hanging over all of us like a thick cloud.

And then, just as if my prayers were answered, he shot up into the sky before flying towards us, dragging a trail of smoke behind him.

I cheered as loud as I could, a big smile on my face as I watched him get closer. Harry grabbed the egg, had a rocky landing and officially survived the first task.

"Take that, Malfoy!" I blurted out before running out of the stadium to get to my brother.

All the students were starting to walk back to the castle now, and I spotted Harry right at the front of the big crowd that had formed. Surrounded by a few Gryffindors, he was walking alongside Hermione.

Before I got to him, I noticed Ron following them a few feet behind, still clearly not wanting to speak to him. This might be the only chance I would get to talk to him, so I took it and grabbed him by the jacket, dragging him further away from his friends.

Without waiting for him to say anything, I began speaking. "Ronald Weasley, if you ever so much as think about telling Harry about anything you saw, I swear to Merlin himself you will never see or hear the end of it!" I hissed, my voice lowered, but my tone just as threatening.

He looked at me with wide eyes, and I wasn't sure he even realised what was going on yet. "You think this is funny? Messing with my personal business? You have no right to do that," I continued, the memory of our last encounter just making me angrier.

"Y/n-"

"-I think I made myself clear enough, Weasley. I just hope you take it to heart."

And with that, I disappeared into the crowd of students, trying to find my brother in it. I pushed and shoved my way through the people, finally laying my eyes on him.

I let out a squeal as soon as he noticed me and ran towards him, closing the few feet between us and giving him a big hug. "I'm so glad you're okay!" I huffed, a big smile on my face and he nodded with a laugh.

"Me too."
