Izuku is hit on the head by falling debris, causing damage to his memory. He doesn't remember anything and the time he can remember something is shortened exponentionally. Katsuki will do everything in his power to make his boyfriend remember he loves him.

Katsuki looked down upon the sleeping green head, softly rubbing his hand as he held it carefully. The setting of a hospital room was familiar to him by now, but that didn't make these things easier... They were pro heroes and injuries couldn't be avoided, certainly not when you're called Deku. Katsuki hadn't been at the scene, but apparently this idiot saved a civilian on the scene of a villain attack when a building was damaged and debris was threatening to hit them. Yet in doing so, he was reckless and got hit himself.

According to witnesses some of it hit his head and the doctors told him they found a wound at the back of his head to confirm the story. They didn't know if there was any brain damage, seeing as Izuku hadn't woken up yet. Katsuki sighed, glancing at the window as birds flew by. It was a nice day out... And this nerd just had to get himself hurt, didn't he? Ugh, the ash blonde was so going to lecture him when they got home! Not that Deku ever listened... Otherwise he wouldn't be ending up in a damn hospital room so often.

A small groan earned his attention and his eyes snapped back to his boyfriend. Izuku was waking up, fucking finally. He blinked and looked around with a confused look as Katsuki squeezed his hand.
"You're a fucking reckless idiot, aren't you?" Katsuki sighed, giving him a small smile.
"W-where am I..?" Izuku asked confused, pulling his hand away from Katsuki. This made him frown. Deku never rejected his signs of affection before...

"You're in the hospital, stupid. You hit your head"
"Oh... So are you a doctor then?" Izuku asked, looking at his boyfriend. Katsuki's eyes widened and Izuku instantly realized he made some kind of mistake.
"A nurse..?" he tried again as Katsuki stood up.
"No, I don't work here" Katsuki explained, carefully picking out his words. It was clear Deku had some kind of issue with his memory and it needed to be checked out as soon as possible.

"I'm going to get a doctor so they can take a look at your head. Just...stay here and don't move, okay?"
It was quickly determined that Izuku had suffered brain damage that severely affected his memory. It seemed like he still had some kind of understanding of how society functioned and about his personal information like his name, age and quirk. But things like personal connections or his job or where he went to school... Things like that all seemed to be lost.

"We're not sure when this problem will resolve itself, nor if it will" the doctor explained to Katsuki as they were standing at Izuku's room. They could see the green head sitting on his bed as a nurse checked the bandage on his head, but they were quiet enough not to be heard.
"So what you're saying is that you're not sure his memory will come back at all?" Katsuki asked, hoping he misheard.

His heart couldn't take this, couldn't take Izuku looking at him with those eyes and not knowing that he was his lover. Not knowing about what they've been through together, how far they've come... It hurt to see him like this...
"I'm afraid so... You could try to make him remember, jog his memory, but we're not sure whether it'll work" the doctor explained.
"I'll try" Katsuki sighed. He'll try everything in order to bring his Deku back...

"When is he getting discharged?"
"You'll be able to take him home today" the doctor said.
"Please update us on his progress"
"I will" Katsuki breathed, looking inside the room as Izuku smiled and happily chatted away with a nurse he didn't know, even though she had treated his injuries over a hundred times and they were on first name basis. The ride home had been all but silent as Izuku asked him questions about his life and the names of people he was supposed to know and what he did for a living.
