Part Forty-Four 사십사

Today is the day. Today I will go home and see my family again. I will see my grandma again and I will be able to talk to her and hug her other than through a screen. I am aware that it will probably be the last time I'd see her, so it's gonna be a hard and emotional two days... Because of the busy schedule, we are only able to go for two days, but it is more than nothing.

I was more than happy to call my mom last night to tell her I would come home today. She was very happy too and immediately told my grandma. My mom told me that my grandma was really excited and couldn't believe her ears when she heard that I was coming over. My mom said my grandma misses me just as much as I miss her.

I look at the bag in front of me. I came home early this morning to pack my bag. Since we're only going for two days, I don't need much stuff. I check if I have everything I need for the next two days and close my bag. I go back into the kitchen where I find Yana. She was really sad and sorry for me when I told her about my grandma's sickness. But she was really happy for me that I am able to go see her today.

"What time will Taehyung be here?" Yana asks me. I look at the time. "Any minute now," I tell her. Yana smiles, "I am so happy for you that you can go to your family! And that Tae is able to join you!" I smile wide, "Me too! If I had to, I would go alone, but I am really happy he can come with me. Not just because it's Tae, but also because I could really use some support."

Yana wraps her arms around me and hugs me tight. "If Taehyung wouldn't be able to join you, I would come with you," she assures me. I smile wide and hug her back. "Thank you," I tell her. We let go of each other. "Say hi to your family from me, okay?" Yana asks me. I nod, "I will." Then she puts her hand on my shoulder. "I hope you'll find a way to say goodbye to your grandma. I know it's hard, but you both deserve a proper goodbye," she says. I nod and try to keep all my tears in for now. I know the next two days will include a lot of tears. "Thank you," I say and hug her one more time.

The doorbell rings. I let go of Yana and open the door. Taehyung stands in the door opening and smiles at me. "Hey, are you ready?" he asks. I nod and grab my bag. I look at Yana and wave at her. "See you soon," I tell her. "See you soon! Stay strong," Yana says. Taehyung and I both say goodbye to her and go outside.

I notice two cars in front of the house. Taehyung already explained to me we wouldn't go to the airport with his car, but someone would drive us. But when I look at both of the cars, I see a few security guards. "It's for our safety," Taehyung explains as we go towards one of the cars,"It will be busy on the airport, so we need the security." We get into one of the cars and put our seatbelts on.

Within an hour, we arrive at the airport. We all get out of the cars and go inside. Taehyung and I walk next to each other, but we keep our distance. I would really want to hold his hand, but of course we can't. Taehyung wears a hat and a mask that covers his nose and mouth. I know he always wears it at an airport, like almost everyone in Korea, but it also helps that he wouldn't get recognized easily. But around us walk six security guards to help us in case he does get recognized.

We all go through customs and get to the departure hall. While we try to find the right gate, I notice a lot of people are looking at us. I see a lot of people making photos of us and I hear a few girls scream. While we go to the right gate, more and more people notice us. They all come towards us and within a few minutes, we are surrounded by like a hundred screaming fans. I know BTS has a lot of fans and I know they are literally everywhere, but I didn't think they would be here with so many fans at once.

The security guards keep the fans away from Taehyung and me. I stay close to Taehyung and feel kind of scared. All these people around us scream for Taehyung. Some scream his name, others are expressing their love for him and BTS. "Are you okay?" Taehyung asks me through all the screams of fans. I smile at him and nod, "I am."
