The teddy bear's arms and legs barely held on through what looked like hastily applied stitchwork. Still, it could move rather quickly towards him, its felt teeth now appearing sharp as knives. It made no sense to be frightened of a stuffed animal, yet he found himself hastily scampering away. The sound of fabric tearing chased close behind him; it took him a while to realize that must be what the bear's growls sounded like.
While running he pinched himself repeatedly to try and prove to himself that this was all just a nightmare. He failed.
And with his lungs beginning to struggle for air, and the bear's stuffing holding up remarkably well, he wondered how long it would take for him to fail to outrun it, too.
