There was something lurking beneath the surface of the water, although he couldn't quite tell how he knew for sure. It was nothing more than a feeling in the pit of his stomach, that told him that something was amiss.
It only rose above the surface when his mind wandered and his eyes strayed somewhere else. When he finally turned to face it, it was already too late.
The creature, with its pale blue skin and fangs about a foot long, grinned down on him. Before he could even react, it had dragged him underwater, robbing him of air.
