Why did it have to end this way?
He'd never asked for much in his life. Used to very little, he'd been more than happy to just take what he could get. And when fate finally blessed him with the best thing to ever happen to him, he dared not believe it at first.
His mistake was finally caving and believing anyway. He had fallen completely, and in the process he'd never even stopped to think it through.
Of course. Of course it had to end this way.
Of course the love of his life had to die.
