He almost cried out, as he faceplanted after having tripped over a particularly gnarly looking root. Stifling the scream as well as he could, he immediately checked his surroundings, praying to the seven deities that nothing had heard him.
The forest had always just seemed... off, and in this very moment he had absolutely no idea why he had thought it a good idea to wander into it anyway.
And now, he couldn't seem to find a way out again. In fact, as he kept stumbling in the dark in a desperate attempt at avoiding more roots, the sounds of various creatures around him only seemed to grow louder.
