147. Windy

She stood on the balcony of the partly overgrown mansion, looking out over the windy moor. Her heart was in two places at once, and her head was facing a dilemma.

On the one hand, there was her lover (wasn't there always a lover?). On the other, there was the whole wide world beyond this moor, a world she had never seen before.

Hours later, her decision was finally made and her preparations nearly finished. All that was left to do, was carefully carve out her heart with a dagger from pure onyx.

Afterwards, she'd jump on her horse, packed with only the most necessary items. She'd explore this world without that bothersome heart of hers. 


A/N: This prompt immediately made me think of the first line in Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights, so that was an important inspiration for this chapter.
