As she wiped the sweat off her brow, she wondered how much more patience was required of her.
"As much as is necessary for you to learn your lesson."
She barely startled even more, having grown used to the witch popping up behind her, replying to her private thoughts. There wasn't much left that was private, anyway.
"If you want to learn about the art of magic, you need to be patient. And you, my youngling, aren't patient. Now if you would continue chopping wood for the fire?"
Why chop wood when you can light a fire using magic? She thought. The witch just laughed.
