My second collection of microfiction, sometimes dealing with the mundane, but mostly dealing with the magical. Unlike the first collection, the stories in this one are based on inktober prompts.
There was no silence here, only the steady dripping, whirring and bubbling of various liquids and machines. And a soft shriek as the alchemist jumped quickly out of the way as a particularly corrosive substance sloshed out of the beaker she was stirring.
She whipped out a corrosion resistant rag to get rid of the spilled liquid, muttering under her breath. Suddenly, she stilled. "That's it! Maybe the trick is physical movement, not a chemical reaction!" She set to work again.
The attempt at testing her new theory didn't go over too well. A minor explosion and the loss of part of her hair later, she still hadn't created gold.
A/N: This is the first part of the next prompt list I'm tackling: "Noir Lifestyle Prompts". I enjoy all of these prompt lists, but given the time this was a particularly fun one. As always, I'll leave the prompt list below if you want to give it a try yourself!
