She'd only been a little girl when trains had been formally introduced as the newest, modern way of transportation. For years, she'd been staring at them longingly, as to her they represented freedom, a way out. Cloistered to the city she had been born and raised in, she wanted nothing more than to break free and see more of this world before she was forced to leave it.
And today was the day she finally got the chance to. She didn't hesitate before boarding the train; she made a beeline for a window seat and took to staring out the window for the entire ride, watching the landscapes pass by with a sense of awe she had never felt before.
