Magic was a tricky thing with a mind entirely of its own. As such, it could not be used by just anyone; it chose the witch instead of the other way around.

The book witch was therefor not a witch in the truest sense of the word. Magic never chose her, she wasn't born with any gift other than an innate stubbornness. She refused to give up and live a life utterly without magic.

Driven by sheer desire, she eventually broke into one of the biggest magical libraries in the world. There, she still lives to this day, hiding from any other visitors, poring over books until the day she could finally light even the slightest spark of magic.
