Day 25: Back To You - Ceylan X Reader

A/N: Yo, it's the same alien. Back at it again with another soulmate AU. This isn't the first, obviously, and definitely won't be the last. Important characters are 17/18

Y/N's Pov

Having a soulmate was everything as a child.

It meant that people have someone who could truly love them. That people could have someone to believe that they could be loved when they haven't found anyone yet.

This, unfortunately, was a lot harder when no one could tell when they found their soulmate.

There are people who believed they found their soulmate and some who have lost hope in finding a soulmate.

Then there are the special ones.

These ones can see soulmates. Who are attached to each other by red strings. Some have multiple soulmates and some don't. Some never find their true soulmate.

These special ones can also re-attach strings to others if they believe it to be better. This is usually due to a soulmate partner passing away before ever meeting.

I was one of those special ones.

It was easy to tell when a soulmate has met their true one. They had a special glow to it. The ones that never were able to meet their true soulmate usually had their strings go grey or black. The ones that are re-attached had a pink string mixed with the red string.

I've learned how these worked when I grew up.

I never re-attached any string but I've seen more grey and black strings in my life then I would ever want to.

It made me sad. That many people lost their true soulmate.

Being sixteen now, I've seen more red strings. Meeting my best friend, BFF/N and then meeting our current group of friends, I've seen a lot of red strings.

It was amazing how much of them had a connection. Although my best friend didn't have one. Their one was black. They met their soulmate. They lost their soulmate.

But I knew they didn't know. They did have a good connection with Ceylan though.

Ceylan. One of our friends. He was funny, smart and generally a good guy.

Ceylan. My soulmate.

We have a good connection. We have for a while.

But he seemed to have a better connection with BFF/N.

"Hey. What do you think about soulmates?" BFF/N asked.

I stared at them for a second before drinking some water.

"I don't really care for them much. If you love someone genuinely then shouldn't that be enough?" I asked.

"I guess. But I like to think soulmates are wonderful. To have one person who is destined for you." BFF/N said.

"True. I guess it depends. If the person you're meant to be with has a real connection with you then I guess it works." I said.

"Hm. Yeah okay. Oh, hey guys. What's your opinion on soulmates?" BFF/N asked as the rest of our friends finally joined us.

"Hm, I think it's nice to think about someone being there for us," Guren said.

"I don't care for it. If someone loves me or not. I just need to live with my games." Toxsa said.

"Uh, I don't really think it's fair for people to think they can't choose who to be with," Chooki said.

"Well, I think soulmates are good. I think everyone has someone to be with that are destined for them." Beni said.
