A/N: Sorry this was late. I'm going to try to keep updates continuous after this but shoot me if I don't.

Day 8: Chooki X Unpopular Reader - Popularity

Y/N's Pov
At school, everyone was sorted out into different groups.

This was unofficial of course but it seemed like a requirement to survive highschool.

There were the populars, which usually consisted of the pretty girls or the good looking guys.

There were the jocks that the only specialty were being apart of a sport.

There was the weebs, which were more of a group that just congregates and could be mistaken for an occult club.

And more different groups.

I wasn't in any of the unofficial groups.

I was on my own, most of the time.

I prefered being alone and didn't actively seek out others.

Some people did actively seek out me though.

People who I knew well.

I had been friends with them for a while now.

Although we had been friends, they were more popular than I had ever been.

And I preferred it that way.

"Hey Y/N." I heard someone greet me and I closed my locker to see Gen.

"Hi..." I said quietly.

"Beni wanted to invite you to hang out with us and our friends but also forgot to mention it to you. So I'm here to." Gen said.

"Which friends?" I asked.

"Guren, Ceylan, Toxsa, Chooki and us two," Gen mentioned.

"Thanks for the offer, but I'm declining. I prefer to stay hidden and your friends are the opposite of that." I said.

"I know. The offer still stands if you change your mind." Gen said.

"Thanks," I said, slightly nodding.

I walked away from him after that conversation.

Chooki's Pov
I was considered a popular guy.

I never understood why all I did was do my best in every subject and try every sport.

I just wanted to do good but I was constantly told I was a popular guy or that I had a lot of fans.

"Hey Chooki, you still up for laser tag this weekend?" Toxsa asked as he approached me.

"Yeah. Can't wait." I said.

As we were talking, I would let my eyes drift around.

I noticed Gen talking to a girl who seemed reclusive.

Their conversation looked like it was quiet but short, as the girl left soon after.

I knew the girl a bit as we had to work together a few times for school.

So I decided to leave Toxsa and approached her.

"Hey Y/N," I said.

"You know who I am?" Y/N asked.

"Yeah, we've had to work together for school a few times so of course, I remember," I said.

"Oh... Uh, what do you need?" Y/N asked.

"My friends and I were going laser tag this Saturday, I was wondering if you'd like to tag along?" I asked.

"Oh, uh..." I saw her eyes trail off, looking everywhere before looking at the floor.

"Sure. Are you sure you want me there?" Y/N asked.

I was confused at the question.

"Yeah. We would love for you to be there. So I'll see you on Saturday at 1?" I asked.

Y/N nodded and I smiled.

"Cool. See you then." I said and left her alone.

"Hey, what was that about?" Toxsa asked as I went back to him.

"I invited her to our laser tag hang out this weekend," I stated.

"Any reason? Not that it's bad, just curious." Toxsa questioned.

"Hm... Not really. I've talked with her a few times so I think she's really cool. And...." I trailed off as I looked at her.

"She's the girl you like?" Toxsa questioned.

"Yeah..." I trailed off as she disappeared behind a corner. "And I'm hoping this gets me to know her better," I said.

"Well good luck. And you better explain to the others why you're inviting someone else." Toxsa said.

"I will. Don't worry." I said.

*Saturday. Laser Tag*

I had made it to the laser tag place and mostly everyone was there.

We were waiting on Gen, Beni and Y/N.

"So, Chooki, you going to get your girl today?" Ceylan asked.

"Ceylan. That's not nice. I want to get to know her better." I said as the missing people had arrived.

I smiled as I waved at them.

"Hey Y/N," I said as I went up to them.

"Hey." Y/N said nervously as she pulled at her sleeves.

"We're all here," I said.

"I made the teams," Beni announced.

"That isn't good." Toxsa and Ceylan said.

"Ceylan and Toxsa are on a team, Gen, Guren and I will be on a team and Y/N and Chooki will be on a team. Everyone fine with that?" Beni asked.

Everyone but Ceylan and Toxsa accepted it.

"Good, let's go in," Beni said and we went inside.

We got everything organised, got our vests and laser guns, was told how laser tag worked then was sent into the arena.

"Do we have a plan?" I asked.

"These are your friends, care to tell me how they work?" Y/N asked.

"Toxsa and Ceylan are more used to long-range attacks, Guren and Gen are more used to close-range attacks and Beni is pretty sneaky," I mentioned as we hid behind a wall.

"So we have two snipers, two knights and a thief." Y/N said as she seemed to be thinking.

"What?" I asked.

"We got to go for the two snipers, which are on the same team. They would most likely stay closer to the higher ground and take that over. To avoid that we should stick close to the wall and try to keep out of their range. It'd be easier to shoot them if their distracted, so aiming for their back or gun could work. The knights are more likely to shoot every time they see movement, but that could probably only be accounted for Guren. Gen understands tactics and would most likely use covers to hide and shoot from the sides. Beni would most likely be running around, shooting anyone that she finds." Y/N said and I looked at her in shock.

"Wow. That makes sense." I said.

"Oh, uh yeah, sorry for rambling. We have a better chance if we stick together. So let's do that." Y/N said.

"No, it's okay. We have a strategy so let's defeat them." I said, smiling at her.

"Yeah. Let's do it." Y/N said as the buzzer went off, signalling for us to go.

We kept close to each other, protecting each other from getting shot.

We got shot once or twice by opposing teams, but we were pretty good at getting to everyone before they got to us.

Soon enough the game had finished and we were walking out of the arena to see our scoreboard.

"How did those two win?" Toxsa asked as we noticed we had won.

"My question is how few times they were hit," Beni said as we observed it for a bit.

Y/N and I were first, Toxsa and Ceylan second and Beni, Gen and Guren were last.

"Y/N got the most overall points," Guren commented.

"Huh. Weird." Ceylan said as we left the laser tag place.

Everyone started to leave but I stopped Y/N.

"Uhm, if it's alright with you, could we hang out. Just the two of us. We can just walk around the park and talk." I said.

Y/N looked to the side before nodding.

"Cool," I said as we walked to the park.

We made small talk here and there and then I noticed there was ice cream.

"Do you want ice cream?" I asked.

"Yeah, sure." Y/N said.

"What flavour?" I asked.

"F/ICF (Favourite Ice cream flavour)." Y/N said and I went and bought ice cream for the both of us.

As I was about to go back to Y/N, some girl from school stopped me.

She was talking about being pretty or something that I wasn't quite listening too as I looked around for Y/N.

Once I saw her walking off, I immediately left the girl to go after her.

I had dropped my ice cream when I reached out to grab her arm.

"Where are you going?" I asked.

"Oh... I noticed someone popular talking to you and thought you didn't want to hang out with me." Y/N said.

"Why wouldn't I want to hang out with you. I like you, not her." I said.

Y/N stared at me wide-eyed.

I grabbed her hand and gave her the ice cream.

"I know it's soon but I do like you. I was trying to get to know you better today so I could eventually confess." I confessed as I looked into her eyes.

"Oh... I didn't expect this." Y/N said.

"You don't have to say anything. Just let's hang out for a bit before going home." I said, smiling at her.

She nodded and we continued to walk together and hang out.

Once it started getting dark, I walked her home.

"Bye. I'll see you on Monday." I said.

Y/N grabbed onto my sleeve before I could leave.

"Uhm... I like you too... But I'd like to take it slow... If that's okay with you?" Y/N questioned and I nodded.

"That would be great," I said, giving her another smile.

She kissed me on my cheek before going inside.

I felt my face heat up as I walked back to my house.

I realised that I didn't care about popularity if I wasn't happy with it.

And she made me happy.
