Day 7: Gen X Reader - That Distant Shore

Gen's Pov

It all became so lovely

Y/N L/N.

The person who made me believe that there was good in this horrific world.

Those bluest skies above me

She was the one who made me start noticing how beautiful things were.

Even in the simplest things.

Like how the sky was still blue after everything going on.

Those funny feelings I had never felt before I met you

I never thought I would feel like this.

I never thought anyone would make me feel like this.

Until Y/N came along.

I thought I'd stay a while

She made me stay for anything.

And even stay in this world.

I tried to learn to smile

She made me smile.

Even after everyone gave up trying.

So many colours I had never even known

She was the one who made me see the colours in the world and how they made up each and every thing.

Maybe I'll find myself sitting on that distant shore
Maybe I'm not alone

I found myself constantly at the beach with her.

Always staring at the distant shore.

I always accompanied her when she wanted to go to the beach and it made me feel not so lonely.

As we always had something to talk about.

And if we didn't.

We'd just sit there in silence.

Then I see the colours
Gentleness of light escaping

When I wasn't with her, it was like the world had gone dark again.

I felt lonely again when she wasn't around.

Shadows of my fear invading, have I seen this all before?
I know that there's something residing

All my fears came back to me.

Every bad thought came back.

A terror deep inside me

I was afraid of myself again.

I couldn't understand how you could be so bold

But you would come back and all that would disappear.

Maybe I'll find myself smiling on that distant shore

And like normal, I found myself with you on the beach.

Smiling and staring at that distant shore.

Maybe I'm not alone

It was then I realised.

"I love you." I said, to Y/N, as we stood on that distant shore.

That Distant Shore.
