Y/N's Pov

The red string of fate.

We are all born with a soulmate.

We're all connected by a red string connecting on our pinkies.

Some have multiple soulmates.

Some have none.

Then there are very few who can see these strings and even fewer who can alter them.

Not all soulmate partners can see their strings.

Altered soulmate partners, soulmate partners whose strings have been altered by them or an outside force, will be able to see their string if previously they couldn’t.

I was one of the few who can alter it.

I even knew who my soulmate was.

A quiet, stoic boy who seemed emo in every way.

His name was Gen Kurai.

The thing was, I don't know if he even knew we were soulmates.

I didn't really care if he knew because that was his own information.

Then I met someone who I can now call my best friend. BFF/N.

She was quiet when we first met but she's more outgoing now.

And she joined our group of idiots.

Since I could alter soulmate lines, i could also see it.

So I saw my friends soulmates.

And it kind of surprised me.

When Guren and I met, i could see his one trail off.

He introduced me to Ceylan and I saw their strings connect.

Toxsa and Chooki, who I met through Ceylan.

(A/N: I am a multishipper. I like a lot of different ships but never used them in case of being attacked. Please don't attack me)

Beni could see her string but didn't know who her soulmate was. Which she admitted to me. Meaning she was also one of the few who even knew soulmates existed.

BFF/N doesn't seem to be able to see her red string so that was interesting.

It was also annoying, being able to see everyone’s strings but not being able to do anything about it.

Because if I tried telling them, they'd all look at me as if I'm some sort of psychopath.

So i was stuck burdening this secret.

Although Gen didn’t know I was his soulmate, I assumed, I was fine with it.

The less trouble in my life the better. That included soulmates.

I was fine if my soulmate didn’t know I was his. It was better because at least we could be friends.

“Y/N!” I heard BFF/N yell.

I sighed, turning around and closing my book.

“Yeah?” I asked.

“We’re all going to movies after school, wanna come?” BFF/N asked.

“Yeah, sure,” I said.

“Cool.” BFF/N said as the bell rang.

“Let’s get to class,” I said as I stood up.

We walked for a bit together before separating to go to our own classes.

I got to class as Gen approached me.
