Back inside the mountain:

Thorin had a change of heart. Balin's and Dwalin's words about his wife got to him. It helped snap him out of the madness that was affecting him. He couldn't leave his wife or Bilbo down there to be killed by a dragon. Shaking his head he held his sword in his hand, as he ran back through the darkened tunnel leading into the mountain. He charged on with his sword out through the tunnel, and stopped dead in his tracks as flames lit up the walls of the tunnel.

"No, no... I can't be too late.." He said out loud to himself, and trailed off as he ran out onto the same overhang that Taryn and Bilbo had earlier reached.

Seeing all of the mountains of treasure all around him, Thorin stopped abruptly. He breathed out heavily and stared down at the treasure, it's as seeing the treasure has caused him to slip back into that madness that he had just snapped out of. Suddenly Taryn and Bilbo ran up the stairs towards him. They both are panting as they stop on the overhang.

"Thorin!!" Taryn called out to her husband, as she rushed over to him. "I thought I was going to be done for."

Seeing his wife running towards him, Thorin smiled as wrapped his free arm around her waist and pulled her close against his body. Letting out a relived sigh he pressed a kiss against her forehead. He was so happy to see her alive.

"Thank Mahal you're okay." He whispered to her.

Turning around he kept his arm around Taryn's non-existent waist, as he walked back towards the entrance to the tunnel. "You're alive!" He said to Bilbo, as he turned his head to look at him.

Taking in a deep breath Taryn panted softly, as she followed her husband and stood by his side at the entrance to the tunnel.

"Not for much longer!" Bilbo said in an exhausted manner, as he ran towards the entrance of the tunnels.

"Did you find the Arkenstone?" Thorin asked Bilbo, as he turned around in front of the entrance of the tunnel and faced Bilbo.

"The dragon's coming!" Bilbo shouted at him.

"The Arkenstone!" Thorin repeated himself as he stared at Bilbo.

"Thorin, Smaug was right behind us. We should get out of the way..." Taryn said to him, as she raised her eyebrows a bit.

All three of them just stand there for a moment, with Thorin blocking the entrance to the tunnel. She doesn't know what he is doing.

"Did you find it?" Thorin asked again whispering, as the three of them stare at each other, panting heavily.

"No. We have to get out." Bilbo said to him, as he tried to enter the tunnel.

Watching as Thorin swings his sword across the doorway to the tunnel, Taryn let out a soft gasp as he blocked the entrance from Bilbo.

"Thorin, what are you doing?" She asked as she shook her head. "Smaug will kill all three of us, we need to leave now!" She said in a serious tone of voice.

As Thorin turned and pressed the blade of the sword against Bilbo, Taryn's pale blue eyes widened as she gasped.

"Stop it, Thorin." She said to her husband, as she reached out and tried to push his sword away from Bilbo.

"Thorin. Thorin!" Bilbo shouted in a frightened manner, as he stumbled back.

Shaking his head, Thorin pushed his wife behind him keeping her out of the way, as the sword was still touching Bilbo. Watching in horror, she gasps and tried to push forward as she saw Thorin pressing the tip of the sword against Bilbo's chest.
