The picture is of Thranduil's wife aka Taryn's mother.

Back in Mirkwood the next morning.
Thranduil's POV:

"Ada I went to Táriel's room and she is not there," Legolas said to his father as he entered the throne.

"And most of her stuff is gone," he added.

Thranduil turned to face his son. It was morning and he had sent Legolas to check on his sister, since she did not show up for breakfast.

"What do you mean her stuff is gone?" Thranduil asked his son.

"I mean her stuff clothes, books, shoes, etc are not in her room and neither are her packs. I think she ran away and took most of stuff with her," Legolas said to his father.

Thranduil was pissed, she obviously left last night sometime after dinner. Of course Thranduil had too much to drink last night, so he wouldn't have noticed her missing. But someone or more then one person had to help her. For the guards never caught anyone leaving the kingdom last night.

"Someone had to help her Legolas. She would not have been able to get past the guards on her own," he said to his son.

"I want you to take a group of guard members and search the forest. Also tell your nana, Vanya, and Tauriel to come here. I need to speak with them," he said as calmly as possible.

Legolas bowed his head in respect at his father, "yes ada. I'll get right on it." Legolas said to his father and turned to leave the throne room.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Soon after Legolas left Queen Vanadessë, Princess Vanya, and Tauriel entered the throne room.

"You wanted to see us hervenn nín," Vanadessë said to Thranduil.
(My husband in Sindarin).

"Yes, it seems our iell has ran away and I'm pretty sure she went to Erebor," he said to his wife with a frown on his face.
(Iell = daughter in Sindarin). I also just realized in past chapters I've been accidentally spelling daughter with a L instead of a I. Oops.

"She had to leave sometime last night after dinner and she had to get help. For no guards saw her leave. So this tells me either one of you helped her or all three of you did," he said to the both of them.

"It was me Thranduil. I helped her leave," Vanadessë said to her husband.

She was not about to drag Tauriel into this. She knew her husband loved her and would not punish her. But he may punish Tauriel and Vanadessë would not want that for someone she considered her adoptive daughter.

Thranduil was shocked, he never thought his own wife would betray him and go back on his orders. "I'm disappointed in you Vanadessë. You knew I did not want Táriel to leave this kingdom, yet you still helped her."

"I'm sorry to have to go against your orders Thranduil, but whether you like it or not she is an adult. It is not up to you who she chooses to love. You know you can not force her to do anything she doesn't want to. We are elves we only marry out of free will and for love. I love you Thranduil, but I will no longer sit back and let you hurt our iell." Vanadessë said to her husband as she walked closer to him. She had a serious look on her face that said she meant all she said.

"Also I could care less if she falls in love with a elf, a man, or a dwarf. Even though the last two will bring heartbreak eventually because she is immortal. I just want Taryn to be happy Thranduil," she added.

Thranduil was shocked to hear his wife speak to him in this way. In all of their years of marriage she never even raised her voice to him. Which told him she obviously was very upset and meant every word she said.

"Please leave us alone Vanya and Tauriel," Thranduil said to Vanya and Tauriel and then looked back at his wife.

With that Tauriel bowed her head at her King and left the throne room. Vanya also nodded and left the room.

Thranduil still had a frown on his face and did not say a word to his wife. He just watched as Vanadessë walked up to him and rested her hand on his face.

"Avaro naeth hervenn nín," Vanadessë said to Thranduil.
(Don't worry my husband in Sindarin)

"How can you tell me not to worry? I am her Adar all I do is worry. I do not trust the dwarves and I am afraid that she will end up hurt. And even if she does not get hurt, all she will get is heartbreak eventually. For Dwarves are not immortal and she is," Thranduil said to his wife with a sigh.
(Adar = father in Sindarin).

Vanadessë sighed, "we just have to trust that she will make good choices and be there for her. And even if you don't trust them, she does and you trust your Iell. I know in the future there may be heartbreak since she is immortal, but she could still have a very long happy life with him."

Thranduil simply nodded his head at his wife, but did not say anything back. Vanadessë reached up (since he was taller then her) and kissed her husband's lips softly.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Legolas' POV:

At that moment Legolas returned with six members of the guard.

"Naethen ada, but we did not find her. She must of made it out of the forest by now." Legolas said to his father.
(Naethen = I'm sorry in Sindarin).

"Do you want us to take the path to Erebor? To search for her more?" Legolas asked his father curiously.

"Baw! Legolas. She is smart, I'm sure she will make it to Erebor fine," Thranduil said to Legolas.
(Baw = no in Sindarin).

Legolas was confused he thought his father wanted Taryn back. Now it seemed as if he was going to let her go to Erebor.

"Ú-chenion ada. Are you letting her go to Erebor now?" Legolas asked his father.
(I don't understand in Sindarin).

"Maer, I guess I am. Since that is what your nana wishes," Thranduil said to his son.
(Maer = yes in Sindarin).

"Be iest lín ada," Legolas said to his father and bowed his head to him. He then told the guards to go back to their posts.
(As you wish in Sindarin).

"Le hannon ionneg," Thranduil said to his son.
(Ionneg = my son in Sindarin).

Legolas nodded his head at his father, "glassen ada." Legolas said and then excused himself from the throne room.
(Glassen = You're welcome in Sindarin).

When Legolas was gone Vanadessë turned towards he husband. "Le hannon for listening to what I want meleth nîn," she said as she reached up and kissed her husband's cheeks.
(Meleth nîn = my love in Sindarin).

Thranduil just nodded his head and kissed his wife back.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
That is the end of chapter 17. Sorry that it was all Thranduil and family. But don't worry the next chapter will be all Taryn and Thorin.

Can you believe what a softy Thranduil can be? I guess he really is wrapped around his wife's finger lol.
