CHAPTER 27 (Lonely Firecracker)

The noise from the blaring ringtone of someone's phone disturbed the sleep in me, I shifted and tugged the duvet but it resisted, tugging it with full effort which made the other side protest angrily.

"Kanino bang phone yan?! Pakipatay naman oh! Ang ingay eh," I recognized the voice and it came from Benedict.

That was the moment I tried to flutter my eyes open, hurt by the escaping lights from the thick drapery of the window. The intensity level of sunlight told me it was already high noon.

Glaring because of too much light, I gazed at my side and was surprised to see Benedict and Archie were on my bed. I sat up slowly and noticed. No, I was the one in the wrong bed.

Then my temple throbbed, traveling across to my skull. It felt like it was being drilled and just the thought that I forgot to change my clothes before going to bed kinda gave me a reason to rise.

Gee, I never skip taking a shower before nap time. But anyway, who would mind?

Gazing back at them, I started to roll over from the bed, trying not to make a more irritating noise aside from this freaking phone. I checked it out and noticed that it was my alarm. Jesus, really?

I snoozed it for 10 minutes and headed to the bathroom.

I don't know what's even worse, a headache for oversleeping or waking up on the wrong side of the bed.

Probably I have done both. I opened the tap and cleansed my face, brushed my teeth, and gurgled mouthwash before hitting the shower. I made it quick before they woke, nobody wanted to see me walking around naked.

Well, Benedict and Archie are just like buddies to me, more like brothers so, the hell I care if they see me walking around in a bath towel.

I almost bumped into Archie when I came out of the shower.

"Oy, gising ka na rin?" I greeted him, wringing a towel over my hair to dry it quickly.

He just stared at me shortly, adjusting his glasses before he asked. "Pwedeng makigamit? Naiihi na ako,"

"Sure," I stepped aside. "Sa kabilang kwarto lang ako ah,"

"Sige," he yelled out as I heard the liquid spilling in the toilet bowl. The cubicle door was left ajar letting me see his rear side.

I turned around and closed the door of the bathroom giving it to him for his private business.

Walking back again to the bedroom, I noticed Benedict's back was bared, lying on his stomach, his shirt rolled up to his torso so I went closer and fixed it, tugging the duvet over him, while shaking my head.

"Wawa naman ang baby brother ko, payat na nga, mapupulmunya pa."

I even heard him ramble some words and then grind his teeth. I stayed just to make out something from his jibberish mumbling. Dropping it when he seemed snoring.

"Ang ganda siguro ng napapanaginipan," my quick guess. So I didn't linger and moved on to my first agenda. Getting dressed.

I gingerly closed the door behind me and headed to the room next door when I came across Pola, yawning while walking, wearing my Dino PJ in pastel lavender.

"Dyan ka natulog?" she started.

Nodding before opening my room. I heard her following me.

"Wow! Ang tindi rin ng paggagwardiya mo sa dalawa ah, dinaig mo pa ang girlfriend, aminin mo nga, Rei. Sino ba ang bet mo sa dalawa?"
