Baby project: a bughead story

First day of work

Jughead POV
I got a text from Betty saying that we'll meet at pops to talk over about Peter, but I also need to work aswell so she said she'll stick around for a while which I didn't mind.
I got changed into the pops uniform I was given and placed my beanie over my head and headed out early so I could have breakfast.
Pops like a second father to me, he always has food for me there, I mean I'm his favourite customer, hence my motto 'food is life'.

I go in and order pancakes and a coffee and see Betty then walk in a few minutes later. She looks tired, Peter must have been difficult. I call her name to indicate her the booth I had ready and she came over.
I looked into the carrier she had and took out Peter. He's wide awake and ready to eat.

"You have no idea how much noise this baby can make. I actually think we got a malfunctioning baby!"
"I'm sure he's fine but then again how much sleep did you get?"I asked worried
"2 maybe 2 and a half hours of sleep."
"Wait seriously, go back to sleep I can ask pop or Veronica to come and look after Peter!"
I notice mentioning Veronica's name perks her up, aren't they best friends?
"No not Veronica!" I look at her confused.
" I mean, I don't want to burden her with my problems, she has her own baby to look after!" I shrug my shoulders and go back to my pancakes.

Betty orders her and the baby's food and tells me what to expect tonight and how to calm him down. She then starts saying, " when I become a mother I'm not gonna be able to care for my child without anyone's help! I'm gonna be an awful mother!" She looks sadly at Peter and I put a reassuring hand on hers and say, " not everyone is perfect at parenting, that partly the purpose of this project, to train us for responsibility! And look you did just fine he calmed down didn't he?"
"I guess so.... thank you. Sometimes I overthink too much."
I give her a warm smile and she smiles aswell. God why do I feel like this around her. I snap out of my gaze when she begins saying, "anyway I have to talk to you about something?"
"Go for it,"
"Soooo I like this guy a lot!"
Is she talking about me? "But a friend of mine likes him too and he may like her, I know your friends with Archie!" ouch there it was . But is she being serious, we have this moment and she's here talking about her feelings for Archie. Whatever this was it was too good to be true. "So will you help me?" Shoot I didn't pay attention, lost in my thoughts again. Without thinking I say, "yeah what do I do?"

I tell her I have to start work so I'll talk with her later. She takes Peter out for a bit and I begin working.
Toni comes in with sweet pea both baby less and sit at the closest booth.
"Waiter Juggie, we need you!" they call out whilst giggling
I roll my eyes and go over to them, "seriously guys why aren't you with you babies leaving me alone to work like a proper grown up!"
"Maybe our partners want a bit of shopping time so we came to bug you!" Toni says looking at the menu
"Yeah waiter I'll have the burger and fries and coke and hmmmmmm...... cake!"Sweet pea tells me
"Right okay,"I say memorising it, "he'll be a fun customer." I then mutter
"I'll have just a milkshake!" Toni decides
"You are now my favourite customer! Your meal is so easy!"
"What why! I'll give you a big tip!" Sweet pea whines
I roll my eyes and walk off to collect their meals which are still not done.
Toni gets up and comes up to me, " later we are gonna have a party at the Whyte Wyrm but not too much party just for like a gathering for the babies and us as parents."
"Great I finish at 4 I'll be there with Peter and Betty at 6 ,"
"Ok. So how's things with Betty," she smirked
"Don't start that, she likes Archie,"
"So?"
"So? So she won't ever like me, a serpant king, gang leader!"
"And remember Cheryl, and all I did was charm her and I had her heart,"
"Nah Archie has the charm that attracts her, hell I helped her this morning and we had a moment, and in they moment I thought of her and she thought of him. He's my one of my best friends and all but he gets all the girls and those girls are all northsiders that hate southside with her and Cheryl as the exception!"
"Look it didn't come from me but I hear Archie is getting close with Veronica and that she was at his house last night."
I couldn't believe it, that must have been why Betty was weird about Veronica, this gives me a chance.
Toni goes back and I get their food and deliver it.

My first day wasn't to bad, a couple of northsiders giving looks but pop put them in their place, I'm just really grateful for him. I tell him goodbye then leave for Betty's house where we will both go to the party.
